Hi Guys,
14 weeks to go and were off on our big trip (
well big for us)
Perth to Pt Agusta up to the flinders, maybe the Gammon then looking at the track from the
Oodnadatta track to
Roxby Downs (Borefield?). Is this a public road? has anyone travelled it? Baring heavy rain would you recommend it? There will be at least 2 vehicles.
Thanks for any advice

Yes, graded gravel road, usually good nick, most time better than oodna track.
Cheers Pesty

Borefield Track!
Yes, a public road, following the pipeline that carries water from the Borefields (A & B) to Olympic
Dam.
Usually in good condition but contains sharp edged rocks in some sections that shred a tyre in quick time if you are unlucky. (like I was)
Destroyed a tyre about 10 K's short of the bitumen.
The rock sliced through the sidewall of the tyre causing a "repair" job that was beyond human capability.
Just part of the luck of outback travel:-)
Don't let it faze you.

Opps, did you get many bid for the second hand tyre;-)
I put 265x75's on my Jack last year, very happy with them will keep eye out for sharp rocks, What pressure were you running? A lot of the guys at the club drop down to around 30lb when on sharp rocky/gravelly roads yet others stay at 38 to 40.

G'day Noldi,
I always drop pressures to 28psi on gravel/dirt roads.
Interestingly, my mate was following me and has the same model Jack, but was running his tyres at highway pressure. (35psi or thereabouts)
Just the luck of the draw I guess.
Got no bids, but the Bridgestone dealer "took it off my hands" when I bought a replacement.

The Borefield road was a very easy drive this time last year - but we were lucky. It had rained just a few days early, and people trying get through that day found it 1 tyre tread forward and two backwards - very slippery.
