Just thought I would post this link, showing the state of the river. Usually there would
water up to the reeds in the pictures and the
water would be flowing fast as you have
water coming from
lake Victoria and from Lock 7.
May we all pray for rain in the upper catchment.

I dont think it is the lack of rain so much as the irrigators up stream . Rain would be a temporary fix though .
It truly is a bummer , but it is no good praying if your a Christian - I've been told by people in the know , that God is all powerful , but non-interventionary .

Non interventionary - what a load of rubbish. Who told you that? Who are these people 'in the know'? Sounds like the words of the 'agnostics' - to me. Oh
well the power of prayer is something a lot of people underestimate and just don't understand. Guess that's their perogative. A lot believe that it surely won't do any harm to say a few - for rain.

Have been talking to a few irrigators over the last few days from northern vic, stuff all
water to do anything with. It is really depressing understanding what they are going through. They have said that biblical rains are needed to get things back on track!!!
Anyone know a bloke called Noah? He been asked to build a boat yet? I think not....... Luckily Mt
Ararat is only 2 hours up the road......
DIO, I suppose you will not be reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins then???

We're at
Berri above Lock 4 and below Lock 5 and looking out, it would appar that everything is fine. Unfortunately the photo's are all too true. Just below
Loch 4 it's similar with sectioms that you can easily walk across the river. I've heard that someone had a go at driving across the river by Lock 7 over
Easter.
I think the problem is manyfold. The lack of rain in the catchments is one part of the problem, Too much over allocation of
water licences and lack of
Infrastructure being provided by successive governments has caused this problem to bite us on the bum.
A cyclone from the west and another down through the Gulf and converging in the catchment area might have fixed the problem but that didn't happen.
We could be on zero
water allocations from July and that will have a devestating effect on the local economies.
Come on Huey, send her down.

Thank all those incompetent politicians of the last 30 years and all the ignorant businesses chasing the buck .. does not surprise me and will get much much worse everywhere ... no
water recycling,
water too cheap and seen as a right not an asset.. Australian people wake up and educate yourself ...
have fun

The Hume Dam in Albury is at 3.6%.
Dartmouth dam is at 12%. We are going to be in deep shamooky if rain does not fall this winter.

Seems as though you are in the area, how fast are they dropping? With no rain
melbourne seems to lose 0.5% a week. I know a few people in the area, it seems desparate.
I'm not sure what shamooky is but it sounds like you wouldn't want to be in it if it were deep, with no rain the shamooky will be deep south of the divide too with hundreds of farmers trucking stock
water for months now both in the southwest and gippsland.......

We seem to be losing about 0.1% every couple of days out of the Hume Dam. It did get to 2.2% before we saw rain. We camped on the Kiewa River over
Easter and there was a steady stream of farmers pumping
water for drinking etc.

Hey Shewelly
Not much better up in the north west/
new england part of NSW either. The bigger dams here are at 3% or thereabouts,
Tamworth's drinking supply is at 16% and falling 0.1 % a day. The Namoi below keepit does not flow, the Peel River above Chaffey is dry as etc etc.
If we had the
water, all of Oz needs towash, polish and wax all the cars, 4x4's etc and then
park em outside overnite with wndows down - always used to work when I was sooooooooo much younger.
And we must all remember that "it will rain again one day"
Cheers
