There was quite a buzz at telfer yesterday when a group of German Gyrocopter pilots touched down unanounced.......
Bit of a worry seeing as there were 2 Ba 146 landing in the Afternoon and a 717 around the same time.
I think they managed some accomadation and fuel and were back in the air at 6am
anyone know anything about this?

LOL if their suicidal driving is'nt enough of a worry, we've now got to cope with dive bombing and strafing runs from the Huns :))))))))))))))

As long as they weren't in the Luftwaffe and they weren't flying Stukas I don't think they would be too dangerous :-)

it around Australia is becoming popular lately - there was a story on Foxtel about a couple of Poms who did this last year and over the Easter break a WA pilot died when his crashed while crossing the Nullarbor - he was on a trip with some other pilots.

BTW - my father emigrated to Australia in 1949 from Germany because he was sick of being on the loosing side :-))

Hi Paul

Most Americans think that Australians come from Austria as well.

My wife being German, is following a forum that German travellers are using, At the moment they all want to know how to immigrate.

Cheers Steve.

Steve,
some Americans have congratulated me on my good command of English when I've told them I'm from Australia!

I was approached by a drunken bum in LA in 1985 when he heard my accent.

"Do they really hog tie cattle down there? he asked he asked"

"Umm yes, for rodeos and stuff" I replied.

"Oh so they really hog tie cattle down in Texas"

"No I am from Australia"

The bum nods and proceeds to swagger away singing "Tie me kangaroo dwn sort..tie me kangaroo down.."

I've had some stupid questions in America (like Floridians intrigued by crocodiles when there's a road-kill alligator in their street), but I've never been asked if I'm from Austria. Here in Florida on a holiday at the moment actually.

I have however had my accent be mistaken for being from Texas - also while in California! To me they sound nothing alike, but to the foreign ear... dunno.

Most Americans I've met here are reasonably knowledgeable about Australia, a large proportion surprisingly know quite a bit about our style of government and how it differs from theirs, and many even know who John Howard is. Buggered if I would know who the Canadian PM is. They're usually surprised to hear about things such as compulsory voting and superannuation, and that kangaroos are *not* hopping around in everyone's backyard. That's probably just based on the experiences that in many states here, whitetail deer get into yards on a regular basis, so they just assume we have similar problems with our kangaroos :)

Careful Davoe, that's how World War 2 started. A reccy mission here, a reccy mission there, then they bombed Coventry, then it was on fer young 'n old,,,,,,,,,

Watch the skies,,,,,,,,,,,

Be alert,,,,,,,,,,,

Not disarmed,,,,,,,,,,

I reckon it was gruppenschtag of old WW2 pilots that haven't been told that WE WON THE WAR,,,,,,,,it's over. They couldn't find any Spitfires so they got lost looking for some over here!

What colour were the Gyro's painted?
I saw four yellow Gyrocopters flying in a NNW direction over the western burbs of Brisbane last week.

Cheers

As long as they bring plenty of bratwurst mit spaetzle and a couple of under wing tanks filled with good German beer they can stay at my house for free! (And a present of a nice Unimmog....and a slection of H&K's.......and a BMW 1150GS......and a......;-))))

Your van is looking suspiciously like a Junkers fuselage to me Reiner;-) I want the wierd offset fuselage Blohm and Vohss myself.
