When you go to a caravan/camping show that if you DONT get the product their and then you could be waiting up to a month or so to recieve the products....

Honda 20ui generator- not deliverd,In all fairness he did not say before easter and knocked $50 off,got the impression ppl were not impressed they could not get on the spot..

Evakool rf60 litre- not delivered at least another 10 plus days

this is from the Caulfield one recently.

What gets me is that the shows are not knew to these guys, been going on for years ! Now after years and years travelling all around the country they must hav an itinerary of what was sold in the past .. I know you can get manufacturing issues-internal parts from other companies not supplied on time etc etc, which is outa their hands.... This excuse has not been used at all

Why dont they STOCK UP,
Honda sold about 30 genies per day according to them, well i saw a lot of boxes stacked up of the 20ui and he said there all sold.... You tell me its not going to be roughly the same in Sydney if not MORE... I rang him (honda) 2 days ago and he said they recieved 40 from manufacturer, dont know if thats 40x20ui or other models too (i'm not good at maths but thats not gonna cut it-their got sydney shortly)

Now i should have heard something by today, actually yesterday according to him-well its not looking good (hang on will run out and check todays mail-nup not their) so will assume i am not in this group either !

Better go pay my electricity bill lol ~(8--)

So you want them to carry stock, that costs them money just sitting there, and give you a good discount?

Sorry, have been on the other side of the fence too, sat with a good few thousand $ worth of stock in the stock room, the wholesaler chasing me for payment, and people can't make up thier mind if they want to buy or not, obviously looking for a cheaper price, and you recheck your figures to see if 10% (or 5% or 20%) markup covers you costs. Meanwhile the bank is charging you interest.

I'm with you oldplodder, some people just don't understand the difficulties of business and some people are just never happy.

As far as i understood these were Honda Guys from HONDA at the Honda Stand-Wearing all the Honda tops, pants, not other camping stores that resell Honda's,there is obviously a prob if a company cannot store products they know they will (not can) sell at these shows, where not talking fishing lures etc. etc..I DID NOT ask for DISCOUNTS but there was a cash back of $200 which applies to everyone and which according to them i get when its delivered which is fine...He said that because i could not carry one out now or recieve before easter they would deduct another $50 which was fine.. As i found out later after walking around that there were plenty of resellers around the place but did not have time to go back and forth, and had already paid cash..

At the end of the day it is what it is and really does not make much difference..
This was only letting people who want gear from shows what could happen thats all

Cheers

I know where your are coming from Oldplodder, but geez it can be so frustrating waiting for stuff. I'm kitting out my Disco 3 and Kimberley Kamper ready for our 'round Oz trip. Here's a bit of a list to give you an idea about delays..

Everything the dealer had to supply for the Disco - roof rack, 'roo bar, headlight and bonnet protectors, mudflaps etc -on time

Kaymar rear bar, wheel carrier and jerry can carrier - 8 weeks
Black Widow Drawers - 8 weeks
Longer Range Automotive fuel tank = 14 weeks (gave up on that one and had one custom built)
3 stage, 15A battery charger - 4 weeks
Shurflo 100psi 12V water pump 20 weeks and counting

And my 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero that I am desperately trying to sell needs replacement breathers for the fuel tank - 4 weeks
In fact I have never been able to walk into my local Mitsi dealer and get something on the spot - not even fan belts!!!

The video camera we are taking - camera available immediately
Bigger battery for camera, tripod, wide angle lens, battery charger, memory stick, carry case: 7 - 10 days (I hope).

If I had a buck for every time I've heard "Don't have one in stock mate, but we can get one in...."

I could go on and on, but I'm winding myself up just thinking about it and it's only half past six in the morning. I don't want to completely stuff my day up.

Gee golly gosh!

I ordered a 4WD awning in December and was told it was going to be available in January. After a number of phone calls I cracked a poo poo and ordered one from Queensland which should be here early next week.

But wait, the story gets better. Received a call from the retailer today who informed me the original order had arrived in the shop and was ready for pick up (after 4 months).

Up until now you will have noticed the appropriate use of language (no swearing).

Unfortunately that's about to change!

In a moment of ill conceived madness, I purchased a PDA unit which boasted all manner of things, including GPS, downloadable mapping software and many other features including the washing of socks.

This piece of technology is equivelant to "Hell of Earth" and has a mind off it's own (my past marriage is starting to look good).

To say I hate this bloody *&$%@# of a thing is an understatement. We now sleep in separate rooms!

At least I can rely on my Latte machine!

LOL

We bought a Honda EU10i at the 4WD show here in Adelaide and it was a carry-out job. Would not have purchased otherwise. They had a small mountain of them sitting there at around $100 below normal retail.

If someone wants to sell me something at a near retail price I expect them to have it immediately available for me to carry away. There are many vendors all trying to flog these things (even in littl'ol Adelaide) and he who has stock has a competitive advantage.

If I want to deal with someone who carries little stock and will order stuff in for me then I expect to pay a considerably lesser price as he is probably running a very lean cashflow and is using my money to pay his distributor. There is also a risk he may not be able to deliver.

I would rather deal with a larger firm (even if it costs slightly more) because by having stock available it shows they have made an investment in thier business and they probably also have the parts stock backup I might need.

I possibly could have done better on price on the Honda but you have to ask if the discount today is really worth it, especially if they take weeks and weeks to deliver.

Just my thoughts and experience.

Cheers

similar as woodworking show...last time in adelaide

I wanted a wet stone grinder ...the advertised price on the unit on display (which did not have a sold siticker on it) was around $195.00
I sad I'll have one ....and was told no problem we can get one transported to you .... what about the one on the shelf ?I ask.....its Sold! they say.

OK so how long will it take to get one to me ....3-4 days..Ok i says...then I handed across credit card & started doing the transaction ..looked at visa receipt and saw $240.00???? oh it cost another $45.00 for freight on top?...told em where to go...cheeky baaaastards
