Thinking of mounting a 6db gain aerial to our vehicle for a CDMA mobile phone.Has any one fitted one and if so how does the range compare to standard phone aerial.Dick smith has these(fibreglass 900mm long) for $120 , does this sound reasonable?

Nick,
Have had one for a couple of years, for wife's phone. We travel from
Winton Qld, to Brissy and are rarely without a signal. I bought the one you mention with harness to suit Hyundai 120 E for around $150.
Mounted it on bullbar, and it seems to perform
well enough there. Hooroo...

Nick,
RFI do a stainles steel 600mm whip for the CDMA band, should be available for about $70. Planning on getting one to replace my current through glass aerial. I plan on mounting it next to bonnet with a Z bracket.

Nick we have just had the same CDMA aerial mounted to our bullbar - opposite side to our UHF aerial. Moved aerial from windscreen as we now have a tinnie on roof top of 4WD - seems to work far better than before. About to head outback and FNQ, so will be very interesting to see just how much further we can pick up the signal. Paid $129.00, which seems to be about the standard price for same. Regards Jinki
