Would you take a heavy duty caravan on these roads?

Andrew,
The road between
Oodnadatta and
Coober Pedy is pretty straight forward.
However,
the Painted Desert (Arkaringa Hills) requires a detour off the main track near Mt. Barry through a couple of Cattle Stations. These "detour" tracks are somewhat narrower and are not graded to the extent the "main" track is. Having said that, in normal conditions the tracks are OK for Caravans.
Have a look at the Treknotes for
the Painted Desert on this site for more details.

Our friends that did the Transcontinental Railway trip rang from
Coober Pedy last week. They went from
Marree to
Coober Pedy, and went out to Lake Eyre as
well as another Lake C (very long name which i didn't try to remember).
