Looking at buying a tinnie, just wondering what type people have and positives/negatives for particular models.
Thanks.

Hi
We are looking at getting a stessl/makocraft topper tracker/edge tracker.
Looks like a good all rounder. We will use it mainly for rivers and some calm inshore work. Have a 445 hornet trophy for our serious barra work.
Cheer Lyndon

Depends on what you want to use one for - rivers/lakes/inlets or open sea use, or a combination and on what size you want.

We have a 3.85m Quintrex Explorer which is a very stable boat for inlets, rivers and inshore reef areas - 3-4ks offshore in good weather. Because of the eclipse hull it can be a bit bumpy in heavy chop but you can walk around in it without it moving, and great for pulling crab nets in over the side.

Also we can carry it on the roof of the Patrol and have been able to see places such as Fraser Island, Smoky Bay etc whilst on our travels - would recommend it for the above useage.

Yep - no problems - done 20K + in past 7 months and been up there for 12 months - hardly ever comes off (although goes up and down in demos 1000s of times) - and don't know it's there.

When I bought my 3.4m Stessl Edgetracker a few years ago, the main feature I liked over the other brands I looked at was that the seat thwarts were welded to the hull.

The other brands all had the seats riveted to the hull.
This may not be all that important but I liked the neater and more solid appearence.
The Stessl Edgetracker is a V-nosed punt, which gives good all round performance on rivers and lakes and protected inshore areas of the coast.

This boat was about as big as I decided was manageable to cart around on the Camper, or on a vehicle roof rack. Anything much bigger and you would need a boat trailer.

I have a roof mounted Quintrex 3.75m Dart with a 15 Merc . This has proved ideal for barra etc up north as I fitted it with Air-o float stabalizers for standing
Willie . up and casting and it has the deep V for the estuary chop .
