G'day all,

Wife and I are planning to visit Sydney in early June, and I'm chasing up-to-date info on good caravan parks in the south to south-west suburbs of Sydney - say out to 30km range. Mainly interested in clean facilities etc. It is only for a few nights, so price is not so much an issue (within reason).

I have RAA book which gives star rating for numerous parks, but comments read on another forum/site totally contradict the star ratings, so very interested in personal appraisals.

Many thanks,
glids

Narrabeen is a nice sort of a park but easy to get to the city........Noooooo waaayyyyyyy!

Not in anything close to peak hour and I'm a Sydneyite.

I's that bloody Spit Bridge that eventually gets ya.

Ian,

Yep your right if you were driving in in peak hour over the bridge. The bus stop is outside the park, 20 mins to Manly and the a ferry trip in. Sounds easy to me!.

B4 at Parklea was very good $30/night but in the NW & 30 mins to city.
Bass Hill is closer for you but heard there's a lot of permanents.

Thanks so far, but we do want S - SW of Sydney as the rellies we are visiting are at Penshurst and surrounding suburbs.

The RAA (and similar) magazines don't like to mention permanents, druggies etc., hence the request for comments from those with first-hand experience,

Further suggestions welcomed...

We stayed at Bass Hill recently when we went to the Rosehill Camping show, we stayed in a cabin though. There were a lot of permanent caravans by the looks of it and looked like a very small camping area for the tents - the bbqs next to that were nice and clean. It's walking distance to a shopping centre (yummy fresh bread rolls from the Chinese bakery!).

Looked like there may have been some African migrants or immigrants there, didn't seem to speak english but no trouble at all.

We came in from Katoomba way and found it easy to get in, next time probably use the m6 or whatever it is to make it a bit quicker. I imagine it wouldn't be too bad navigating to the city from there.

sounds like you've read some of the reviews at the Australian Caravan Park Reports site
