I know its slightly off topic, but I am after some pulleys (preferably aluminium) about 80mm - 100mm (or 3-4 inches) in diameter. Does anyone know of any suppliers? Blackwoods stock ones with a v-shaped groove and I am ye tto contact them, but can anyone suggest another supplier?

cheers,
Sam.

Was just going to suggest that bearing places usually have them, also engineering supplies, where are you located?

I'm in southern Sydney Peter.

I've tried one or two local engineering supplies, but one place only had larger steel pulleys. I only need a smaller light weight one

Our local (hornsby) North Shore bearing supplies has a big range of the alloy ones with the pink/maroon centres as does the local engineering supplies.
Try Coventry at Alexandria. Bourke rd from memory.

Gday Sam

Also worth a look would be a boat shop - they have them for the old style of steering, came in a few sizes....yachts also have all sorts of pulleys etc as well so they may be of some help

Cheers Andrew

Sam.
Some Exercise machines use glass reinforced plastic pulleys about that size, stronger than aly, look for them in your local hard rubbish collection. Eric

Can't give a supplier, but fyi, altho it depends on the amount of use you are giving them, steel V-pulleys give a lot better life than the ally ones, which tend to wear out quickly.

Try power steering pump pulleys, wreckers would have heaps and different sizes too.
