Melbourne - almost a dessert !

Recent media release now makes it offical that Melbourne has received its
lowest ever annual rainfall since records began in the 1850's with only
318mm - this is almost a desserts definition (>300mm).

It is now 10 years in a row of below average rainfall which in itself is another
record.

I hope the weather gods reconsider there position soon as we are trying to organize a big bonfire and muddy 4wd trip for the long weekend - and the way its going fire restrictions will come back on you'll be able to drive thru the mudholes
on road tyres.

So Melbourne is like frozen CO2, cold and dry. Although it WAS cold and wet like ice cream when I lived there.

Welcome to the club.

Brisbane has had about 140mm for the year so far, instead of the usual 500mm odd, both depending where you are in Brisy.

Further west, the worse it is.

And we don't get winter rain, so not expecting any reasonable rain now until September/October.

It just is getting dryer every where.
Real dry on Fraser Is and other beaches, so tracks are really getting chewed up.

I have had some very nice desserts in Melbourne and surrounds and especially at Mrs Al's place.

The closest desert to Melbourne is Little Desert over to the west.

LOL

We've had 2230mm since 1/1/07.

I'm in Melbourne at the moment (came from here originally and still have to come here for work) and it's drizzling, cold, and it's gets dark at a bit after 5pm.

For the life of me I cannot remember why I took so long to move north.

Climate reversal. Been drizzling/showers in Birdsville for a week. They'll be growing lawns
there next.
cheers

Our tanks are nearly full after the last few days of rain. We are on the edge of Melbourne and haven't needed to buy water since we got a third of a tank in January. This doesn't solve the drought problem but I wish the government would give everyone a decent tank. Chris.
