O'BRIEN'S GARAGE, SWAN STREET, LONGREACH

We were at Longreach having driven down from Winton last Sunday afternoon. Did the QANTAS Museum and Stockmans Hall of Fame. Driving back into town I had a vague uneasy feeling that something wasn't right with our Patrol. SWMBO needed to do some food shopping, so I dropped her and eldest son at the supermarket, popped the bonnet and checked my batteries, one read 11 volts and the other was lower! I found O'Brien's Garage in Swan Street and took the Patrol to them. It was after 4pm Monday and they tried their best to sort it out on the spot. One battery was "dead" and our alternator was faulty, so obviously I had to return. They got me in first up Tuesday, the auto sparky that did the job, Jason, even getting to work 1/2 hr early to try to get us going that little bit quicker. The alternator was the original, now 12 years and 297000 k's old and was a bugger for him to pull apart. He persevered, didn't get cranky with it, just kept steadily working till the job was completed. Then he found a problem with the regulator, so stripped the alternator again and, instead of suggesting it be replaced, they repaired it! The job was also rather reasonably priced! So a big thanks to Jason and the boss, Shaun......... Great service and a great bunch of guys!!
Many thanks!!!

Take a "well done" Brian.

So often we here of the rip-offs lousy service that people get. It gets depressing, it's easy to think that good service no longer exists.

I for one will try to remember your little story and if ever I am in Longreach and needing anything that O'Brien's Garage in Swan St can supply I will go there and tell them I heard of their excellent service here.

Yesterday I had the clutch replaced in my Patrol. Being new in the area I had no idea who I should trust with the job. There is a Subaru specialist on Forest Rd Lugarno, (Sydney) his workshop is well equipped, always busy and very clean. I asked about a bit and heard nothing bad, so I took it in there. The job was done on time, on budget and returned to me having been meticulously washed inside and out.

There are story's of good service out there so thanks again Brian for giving us some hope.
