Yes it's me again
I run Copilot on my Laptop & intend to take same on world trip.
I know there are GPS maps available for Oz, USA & Europe.
Any ideas if or how I might get GPS maps for Asia (W, SE or anywhere else)?
Can I get detailed maps scanned & made compatible with GPS functionality? What's problems doing this (apart from perhaps price)?
Any advice?
Rumbler.

Rumbler,
From my research, you are out of luck.
The only similar software application around that has maps for Asia, (Hong Kong, or Singapore) is TomTom's Navigator 6. The problem is, this software is no longer available as "stand alone" in Australia. You can only buy it with European, or US maps ($239 AUS) and then purchase aditional maps for other areas, including Australia from the TomTom web site. The Aus maps cost a further 199.95 Euro ($328) which makes this solution unviable. The maps for Hong Kong and Singapore are each $39.95 Euro, or $65 Aust.
For some strange marketing reason, Navigator 6 is now only available within Australia if it is purchased as part of a TomTom hardware package.
Like you, I have CoPilot (6) and think it is extremely functionable, but as you have found out, the maps are limited to Europe, US/Canada and Australia.
Bugger hey!

Thanks Sand Man
Tell me, you got any idea if & how to get hold of "digitised" maps of Asia that can be adopted for (Co-Polot) GPS use or even just compass navigation (points the direction if not the way)?

Roy,
I'm no expert on CoPilot, (only installed it recently) but I'm not even sure if you can change the Map reference.
I have checked their Web site and there doesn't appear to be any downloadable maps you can purchase, so it may be that each version of CoPilot has built-in maps for a particular Country.
I have sent an email enquiry to them, to ask if they supply maps for other Countries, (for a cost of course) or whether you need to buy the whole application.
(Still waiting on a reply)
As far as digitalised maps are concerned, these would be better referenced by OziExplorer.

GPSOZ hires out maps for overseas on SD cards, might be only for Garmin units
