Just a late request for an overnight stop somewhere this side of Denham.

I am leaving later today for a 2 week trip up North (Millstream, Ningaloo etc..) but due to a last minute change of plans will be leaving in the arvo and would like to know of a decent overnight camping spot rather than staying in Denham Caravan Park.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers

Captain

Hamlin Pools is on the turn off to Denham.
Just be very careful of roos if your heading up that way at night. I almost wrote of a Subaru just before the turnoff there. Biggest roo I have hit. Was only for the bull bar that saved the subaru.
Have a great 2 weeks

Captain can't remember the river's name (most probably the Murcheson), but it is the first major river you cross after the Kalbarri turn off and before you hit Canarvon. Anyway on the LHS of the road there is a large free overnight camp spot. It was sign posted as a 24hr stop.

Hi Captain,
As well as the two previously mentioned stopover places there are others (Free Camping) a bit further up the Highway than the Murchison River.

North of the Murchison on the right are some large concrete watertanks. People can overnight there, camp behind the tanks, no facilities and don't rely on there being water in these tanks.

Next one is on the left going North and from memory is past the tyres indicating the entrance to Nerren Nerren (on the right).
Quite a large area with a fair bit of shade (for the area) and also a reasonable toilet setup. It's worth a look.

Otherwise you could push on through to Billabalong (Billabong?) Rd House, there's plenty of space opposite but is right on the highway (Noisy).
Similarly you could camp south of the Overlander Rd Hse, again right on he Hwy and frquented by big rigs.

Depending on what your outfit is, there are also a few small tracks leading off the Hwy where you may be able to get off the road a bit for the night.

Cheers
