Hi all, I'm looking for a bush
camp site (or two) in the central
Flinders ranges. It needs to be big enough for up to 10 vehicles, half of which will be towing CTs. It's only for an overnight stop so
toilet or shower aren't necessary. I'm heading up there in a couple of weeks to do a reccy but I reckon somewhere in Parachilna, Brachina gorges or Aroona valley seem favourite at the moment or possibly on one of the stations in the area.
I'll be heading up through the ranges in the first weekend of the July school hols and want a couple of options up my sleeve in case my preferrred sitse are taken.
Secondly I have read that there are two
camping spots at
Aroona dam but the pdf brochure for the sanctuary didn't mention them, can anyone confirm that these
camping spots exist and how big are they?

I would reccomend
Brachina Gorge. Just beautiful. We didn't
camp there but wish we did. Next time when retired.

Brachina is a top spot and lots of

There is a large rest
camping area on your left just a short while after the turn off to
Rawnsley Park.
Brachina or Parachilna Gorges have lots of space.
Trouble is it will be school hols and a lot of travellers will b eout there.
Cheers

That's my concern Willem. I know of a few spots in the main gorges but want a back up if needed with a group of up to ten in tow i'll need a fair bit of space. Hopefully we can set up fairly early.

Ten vehicles,
toilets not necessary?
I hope you have a big spade!
I was up in
Parachilna gorge the other week, I won't tell you what my dog was eating.
Rawnsley park, okay you have to pay, but it has some great
bush camping, a
shop and
toilets.
No
camping allowed at
Aroona Dam, we get our
water from there so I would politely ask that you don't crap there either LOL
cheers

Hi pom.
Toilets would be handy but for an overnighter we can manage with the spade ;) I can guess what your dog was eating. YUK
I'll be calling in at
Aroona dam for a look around and morning tea stop and hadn't planned on
camping there but some reports and maps show a
camp site there which surprised me given that it is a
water supply.

Navaraman, if you come into
Brachina Gorge from the
Leigh Creek road end, the Teamsters
Campsite area is not too far in and is quite a large one. I have seen school groups in there on occasions, not this time of the year though.
There is a reasonable amount of room around the
Glass Gorge -
Parachilna Gorge corner at the Parachilna end too. I have seen campers in the middle of the
creek there, but it is quite high ground.
Most of that area is quite a bit above the normal
creek level, which you would have to take into consideration.
You would have had to have floaties on in there this last week I think.

Hi
There is a very nice
bush camp site at the end of Aroona Valley with
well spaced sites, even
water and long drop dunnies. there are intersting walks, and it is not far from Brachina.
