I have just purchased an explorist 600 with traveller pack, having problems loading the map file (*.imi) from the memory card to OziExplorer, any ideas?

I have the same GPS and Traveller Pack and I don't think you can take the maps off the SD Card.........

I have been able to copy the maps onto the hard drive by using Mapsend Lite

Yes, normal maps but not the Discover Aus maps on the SD Card? If you can then you have answered your own question and I am lost as to what your asking? I was under the impression that the SD Card maps (DAST) you cannot download onto the computer, though happy to be corrected.....

Somehow I was able to load the files from the SD Card via MapsendLite to my hard drive, then Mapsend Lite can load them from my hard disk. No Probs.
When I use Oziexplorer, it cant seem to load the imi files from the HDD, the option doessnt appear to be there? Other file formats are excepted.
I was hoping to use OziExplorer instead of MapsendLite

You cannot just copy the files from the SD card to the PC they are certified to only work from the specific SD card. The new Mapsend light V2 has the ability to do the transfer and then you can run them on the laptop whenever you want. The version of Mapsend that comes with the GPS unit have not yet been updated.
You can download the new version for free from Next Destination in
Perth who are the Aus agents for Magellan.
Check for a firmware update at the same time. I have an XL and the latest firmware update was a big improvement in both speed and features.
Had a chat with the magellan rep at the
Sydney show recently and he said that Magellan work putting a lot of effort into updates to come.
cheers

As far as I know, the Magellan maps are vector based maps, whilst oziexplorer uses raster based maps.
Basically they are incompatible formats, so even if you can successfully get the maps from your SD card and onto your PC, they are not of a format that oziexplorer can import or use.
