Hi, looking to spend a few days in the Mt soon & would like some local knowledge on some good 4wd tracks (private or public). Will be staying in the town, so just after day trips, no camping. Keen to see spots that are off the normal tourist tracks. Cheers

Well not sure what you are after, but if you head out of the Mt Gambier towards Pt MacDonnell, at Allendale East turn right at Kingsley Rd travel 4.5k's to Smiths Rd, you cross virtually straight over just travelling slightly Nth and continue out along Pannells Rd a further 2.3k's then turn left at Walsh Lane.
Travel a further 2.3k's sth until you reach Douglas Rd (T-
Junction) turn right follow this track all the way until you reach Cape Douglas, then all the way to the headland just Nth of
shacks.
From here the track cuts through rocky tracks and hills at back of cliffs and sand hills.
Eventually this runs into
the beach, and I believe you can still drive all the way around to Nene Valley. Very interesting varied track.
Check out my Rig Pics, last one is a Mud Map, for your use
Cheers

...and from Nene Valley it is possible to travel to
Blackfellows Caves then to Carpenters Rocks and even the lower half of Canunda.

Canunda NP not too far away - great place for 4 wheeling.
