Another new "retiree" this week but alas in Nursing there is no big payout! Ordered a 16ft Majestic caravan at the show and about to
sign off on extras tomorrow. It is not the "off road "version as I didn't think we (two ladies of a certain age) would need super off road stuff on our retirement van although we love 4wd trips & will do the Simpson ,GRR etc. but not with van in tow. Nevertheless we want to be fairly self sufficient & in I have optioned up to Batt. pack, Shwr, 15" wheels, 2" lift, jerry can holders (after almost running out of fuel on the Nullabor last year) Chequer plate & 6" chassis & A frame. 1800kg axle (single) Question is should I bother $800 extra for 6" chassis , (plus $1300 for Chequerplate) or should I be spending more on off road
suspension, if I think I really only want to do the gravel roads on the big trip & 4wd weekends? Help.
Cheers Mac

No! No! No!
Don't
sign off anything!
Don't have a bar of anything to do with Majestic Caravans untill you thoroughly
check out the MSN Caravan
Forum if no others.
I saw a photo of a ventilation vent on the side of a Majestic Caravan, you know those vents that allow cooling for the refrigerator coils? Yeah right? There was nothing behind it!
When I say nothing, I mean the ventilation apeture had never been cut in the wall, so here was a vent rivetted over absolutely nothing at all.
Just escape while you have the chance, owner's posts suggests that you have no hope of warranty rectifications.

Thanks guys I have spent all day on the caravanners
forum and am totally stressed out. I have not ordered the Majestic through a dealer but from the factory and I have been out there and checked them out; even though I am female it will be the 8th or 9th van i have bought so I will
check out the obvious things. I have also read on the forums problems with Coromal , Regent, Galaxy,
Roma and several other unnamed brands. I also know people with most of these brands who are happy with them. I do not know any Majestic owners. Is there any body out there who is happy with Majestic? I presently have a Goldstream Campervan and have been very happy with their after sales service for very minor problems but they did not have a shwr/
toilet van under 17'6 and I really don't want any bigger than 16ft. Where to now?
Cheers Stressed out Mac

Hi Mac
Firstly, I think some folk are bagging Majestic based on one persons bad experience (I've read the storey/dealings on Caravan
Forum some time ago).
If your not happy about what you hear/read, then get onto the RV Manufacturers Association, which by the way list Majestic as being approved manufacturers.
I have a Majestic Caravan (Gold Tourer) - purchased new in 2005.
I've only had a screw fall out from a curtain pelmet, which hardly justifies firing off a complaint. Only changes made to van was axle underslung and stablizers replaced with drop down jacks. I might say, all done at NO extra cost to me prior to delivery. I am happy with the van tho it will be doing very little dirt road stuff.
Cheers
Leigh

Leight I can guarantee you it is not a one off problem. My neighbour has a Majestic that can only be described as a nightmare. The mental strain and sadness has caused the couple to nearly have a
breakdown.
There is a another
young couple in Geelong with a Majestic Caravan that is so bad as to be dangerous to the family and other road users. There are so many bad Majestic Caravan stories that it is certainly not one bad van. I have also seen Majestic Caravan owners in caravan parks where we stay and they have also not been happy campers with the problems and things they cannot get repaired under warranty. They say Majestic Caravans dont answer their phone or reply to email.

1800kg on a single axle is diaster. Suggest you get an engineer to go over the weights or ask on the Caravan
