1200lb should be enough to pull a boat onto it's trailer but not much good for a 4x4. Even a lightweight Suzuki needs at least a 3,000lb pulling capacity.
You didn't mean 12,000lb did you??
Cheers Craig...........

Its not an Ironman winch??? If so, they are pretty good from what I have seen. Thinking it might be Ironman as they come with a remote.
Check it here: Site Link
It doesn't mention the romte on there - but I am certain they come with them now.

Not sure of the rating, but Aldi had
winches today for $599.00. Their sale doesn't start 'til next Thu the 14th.., but they were there.

I've got a Turfor hand winch. In 5 years I've only needed to use it once to pull myself out of the mud. But, I've used it plenty of times to pull out tree stumps, which it does effortlessly. Forget the electric winch, it's a heavy item to carry around on your Bull Bar and it's just another thing to maintain and service. Imo it's a waste of money. Sparky

You can guess it is a chinese winch from one of the factories making them these days and imported by one of the myriad companies and individuals doing that.
Some of those are the brand names like Ironman and some of the big name stores - including Aldi. In my experience they all look pretty much the same - in fact they are clearly rip-offs of the traditional brands.
Potentially the big brands put in additional quality control procedures, but if they do, they are in the chinese factories because they come with packaging unopened from China in my experience.
I have heard a couple of horror stories - parts fitted back to front, etc, and gear failure, but then even the major brands have failures. There are heaps of these out there.
In my case I have had a 12000lb Chinese Winch for about 2 years - it has been out in the wild all it's life, and has been used in anger to retrieve other folks a few times, but generally it is used for gardening and arborism. I pulled it down a few months ago, and everything looked fine - replaced a rusty screw in the solenoid housing, and tidied up a bit of rust on one of the terminals, but inside everything was fine and went back together and worked fine too. I have never had a problem with it.
I hope that helps
Andrew.
