Had checkerplate tool/storage box put on the front of your camper trailer recently? We are looking at purchasing one 1200x50x50 for the front A frame of our trailer. Any advice on reputable dealers in NSW, how much to pay for one and how to mount would be appreciated.

If you have a sheetmetal
shop in the area I would ring and ask for a quote.
(1200 x 50 x 50) - 500 x 500 x 1200long - use millimetres when asking.
Yes you can get cheapies at some stores and these mostly are imports made in bulk and size restricted.
Because you are asking for specific sizing you may pay between $600 to $700 in 1.6mm Aluminium Chequer Plate as a budget guide only.

Can't recommend dealers, but I had one for my fridgeinstalled from new on my c/t. It sits in a 50X50 steel angle cradle, which is welded to the draw bar. The box is then bolted to the cradle.
After delivery, I sealed
the gap between the checkerplate and the steel cradle as I didn't want moisture sitting in the cradle and potentially causing rust.
No doubt you are aware that you can pick up checker-plate tool-boxes at various auto-accessory outlets?

I had a look around
Melbourne for a
well built checker alumimum plate tool box for our camper.
Ended up getting one from Repco Moorabbin which was made locally. I got the smaller size about 300x300x800 (i think) but they had larger one. They have a stainless steel panio hindge and lock and it has a good weather seal. Even used s/s pop rivits for the hindge and handles. Cost about $136 on sale.
In case your thinking it, no, I don't make the boxes, nor do I work for Repco.
Cheers Anthony
