Hi

I am planning on 'doing' thr above trek this weekend and note the trek notes left by Rohan K differ quite a lot from those on the main page.

1) Can Rohan K e-mail me and give me the 'more detailed' notes he refers to in his trek notes and
2) Are the differneces enough to cause me concern
3) Anyone want to join me? :-)

KiwiAngler, which bit of Yengo are you interested in? We've only done the two treks there, but there are others (such as the Old Settlers Road). What's your email address?

No, the differences will not cause you any great concern (you can't really get lost), but the incorrect distance provided would have you second guessing yourself, and the incorrect direction mentioned, upon backtracking from Devils Rock, sending you back to the main road would be midly annoying, if that wasn't your plan.

Do you have GPS? Do you have OziExplorer?

Get the Wollemi NP tourist map and Singleton 1:250,000 and you'll be fine.Be good, or be quick.

KiwiAngler, I tried the email - didn't work. Tried again with an extra "i", and think it went through. Let me know if you don't get it.

I've e'mailed you - but give NPWS a call at Gosford on 02 43 204200 or 43 204219, they will be able to provide info on track conditions and also info on a new area which is very scenic called Big Yango - this area is key access only so you would have to arrange this. Have fun this weekend.Cheers, Beddo

G'day KiwiAngler, I am looking for a trip this weekend as my planned one has been washed out, so I will go with you if you still want company. I live near the airport and have Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon morning off work, so anytime you want me to meet you, let me know. Seeya, Roscoe.

What type vehicle do you have?

Are you 'self contained' by that I mean do you have to rely upon camping grounds and the like for your sleeping etc.

I live in Castle Hill area and was thinking of an earlyish, 6:00am, departure from there and as i have a rooftop tent fitted was planning on an overnighter on Sat with an 4:00pm back into castle Hill Sunday.

You're welcome. BTW, if you plan to do a few trips around Sydney and haven't got it already, the book "4WD Treks Close to Sydney" by Boiling Billy Publications (available on this site for $21.95 plus postage) is well worth the price.

Also see www.gpsoz.com.au as they have waypoints for a number of Boiling Billy treks in NSW and QLD (S/E Qld, I think). There's one for the Wattagan's, just a few Kms east of Yengo. I haven't done it yet, but it could be worth a look while you're up there.

Be good, or be quick.

Didnt get chance to read it before I left...just as well :-)

Dont know what went wrong but had a message from ISP when I got back today (sunday) saying message had 'caused a fatal error' and had been kicked...when I looked at the returned message (your one) it was page upon page upon page UPON page of machine language :-)
Must have cause the computer to have a hernia :-)
Could you resend the amended files.
And do I just load them onto Ozi to use?

Yeah, I don't know what happened either. I got some weird messages from Optusnet and it hasn't let me log onto the web since Saturday am. Seems to be OK now so it might have been an Optus problem.

I'll send you the Ozi files (.wpt .rte and .pnt) instead of the image and text files. If they don't come through, let me know and I'll send them from work tomorrow. What maps do you have? NatMap? What GPS do you use - a Magellan or Garmin?

How was the trip? You had great weather yesterday. Whick trek/track did you do?Be good, or be quick.
