We will be spending a few days between Alice, kings Canyon and
the rock.
Does anyone have any suggestions for good campsites along the
west macdonnell ranges.
we will check out Alice, but then want to
camp at one of
the gorge's on our way to kings canyon.
any suggestions much appreciated.

Gday,
Boggy Hole is a good drive and nice
camping in between Alice and the Canyon. What way are you heading and how many nights are you looking at
camping for.
Do a search and I think youll find what your looking for.
Cheers

Gday,
You wont have any trouble getting through
Boggy Hole ( unless the Finke is flowing), Its just a dry river bed most of they way, so drop your tyre pressues if you need to.

There is good
camping at most of the gorges Ormiston, RedBank etc etc
Personally I prefer the
bush camping available near
Glen Helen, in the Finke R access 300m West
Glen Helen turnoff, track in via Nth side of road East bank, reasonably signposted. Close enough to set up
camp, get to
Glen Helen for an Ale or 10, while listening to Tim Rickards on guitar that night Wed->Sun nights. Good distance from Alice to do sight seeing along the way and then next day whatever do Redbank,
Roma Gorge and for me a must Tnorrla, Gosses
Bluff.

Get back to
Mereenie loop head E for @70k
camp at Palm V, then head to Boggey Hole.
For me I would choose Nth side of the W Macs way over Sth side, ie
Hermannsburg, Palm Vally. If you can do both go for it.
Regards,

Palm Valley is one of the better spots... you may need a little bit of grond clearance to get out there... but a soft-roader is fine.
It's good to see it in the morning before all the crew come out from Alice too
Cheers, Will.

Hi grunter
This question was asked a few weeks ago - have a search. I suggested Serpentine Lodge/Chalet - it's a great
camping ground with 4x4 only for the last kilometer or so. Plenty of
places to
bush camp but no facilities. You can walk to the site of the Chalet and past that to the dam that was built to ensure a reliable
water supply. We climbed a
hill to get a great view of the surrounding country too. Cost: zilch!
Happy days

We had a fantastic
camp for 3 nights at "2 mile" on the river opposite
Glen Helen. The track in is about 50m west of the
Glen Helen turn-off. We checked out the sites at Redbank as
well, but for us it just didn't compare. Check out the photo in my gallery.
Cheers
