Just reading through Tips & Facts on left of this page and found it interesting reading , but wondering if some of the facts still remain true today.
eg;
Tully being wettest town in Qld, some claim
Babinda is.
Yeah I know... who cares, but it's raining here in
Townsville an I've got nothing better to do
Cheers Ray

Poppy, you mean to say "if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck & quacks like a duck" it's not a male?

The Drake I used to own must have been gay then.
Might account for the lack of ducklings.

It is
well a known and generally accepted fact that the female of the species makes the most noise.

When we were in Switzerland we stayed overnight in a Hotel in Lucerne and there were Ducks on the shore of the Lake that chirped rather than quacked, I kid you not.
Didn't check if they were male ducks or female ducks.

When I was a
young wild thing, I used to shoot wild ducks and we used to encounter a lot of "whistler" ducks that didn't quack either, just whistled.
Footnote:- They were off limits though

A friend of
mine sent me an email the other day a part of which mentioned that a duck's quack will not make an echo and they don't know why. Has anyone heard of this before?

Yes and it was tested on Mythbusters and found to be false, a duck's quack does echo.
Also on Snopes and they also say it will echo.
