I was filling up my ute the other day with diesel when some splashed out onto my best, most comfy jumper. (Okay, it dosnt look that great but it is my favourite to wear). SWMBO has washed it twice and soaked it in nappy san and the smell of diesel wont come out. I like the smell, reminds of living on the farm, but she wont let me wear it for anything but outside work now, wont let me inside the house with it on. :(
Does anyone know how to get the smell out??
Dave

Here is an old wives recipe
4 cups of soap flakes
1 cup methylated spirits
100ml Eucalyptus oil
Makes a thick mixture
Mix in a bowl and use about 2 tablespoons to a bowl of warm
water.
Apply to affected area.
Do not rinse jumper
There is a commercial application made by Kiwi.
Hope this works...lol
Cheers

Willem,
Thanks mate, Im willing to try anything to save my right to wear it. SWMBO has never liked it and I suspect she is using this as an excuse to ban it. Cunning buggers arn't they? ;)

Hang it in the sun and hope the smelly stuff evaporates out. I spily injector cleaner on the carpet in the back of the wagon and 3 years later you can hardly smell it.

Sounds like you have got plenty of mileage out of the jumper already, but that extra fuel you spilt on it may give you another another couple of
miles then trade it in...lol

HA HA LOL,
I refuse to trade it in, instead Im going to fully recondition it, patch the rust and make it last another 10yrs. That will fix her. LOL

She may get used to it before I get used to the nagging, I call her "berger paints" because she "keeps on keeping on". (Don't tell her I said that) :))

Same idea except I would use degreaser ( super cheap stuff is good ) then wash as normal. Try it on a bit of something similar first , an old jumper or ?
WD40 probably does smell better though. LOL

Hi David,
I work with the stuff every day, have had a bit of practice at your little problem :-))
Get some good truck wash, the stuff that actually removes petroleum products, not CT18 etc, I use bp truck wash, mix up a batch, a cupfull or so in a bucket, and soak your jumper in it for a few hrs then put it in the wash as per normal, and while the Missus ain't looking pour in the truck wash mix from the bucket, wash along with your other work clothes as per normal and it'll be as good as new.

Pezza,
Thanks mate, your a legend, sounds just like the cure Im after. Im willing to try anything to protect my human rights. But it sounds like she wont be happy if she catches me using truck wash in the washing machine, I will just wait till she is at work. ;-))

David,
Stand up for the brotherhood of man - don't let her have her way. Its your jumper, you should be able to wear it with pride regardless of what is smells like. Its about time we men take back what is rightfully ours!!!
Karl
BTW - Best of luck and I accept no responsibility for any injuries you may sustain in following my advice.

Thanks for the encouragement Karl,
I am going to make a stand. Things are going to change around here. Im putting my foot down.
These are the new rules:
I WILL WATCH SPORT & DRINK
BEER WHEN EVER I WANT.....to get into trouble.
WHAT I SAY AROUND HERE GOES....................................right out the window.
I WILL WEAR THE PANTS AROUND HERE..................right after I do the washing.
I WILL HAVE SEX WHENEVER.......................................................she wants to.
Ive sort of had to modify things a bit because she is only small but she can cause some BIG trouble!!!
Browbeaten

David,
I would try Bio Magic, the stuff used for Porta Dunny's.
You can but a diluted mixture of Bio Magic in a pump spray bottle.
Eliminates any odour, including diesel smells. Has no smell of its own.
