If all you are looking for is a voice guided street directory, the TomTom is as good as anything else, especially for the price.
If you wish to expand the capabilities to include "moving map" tracking anywhere in Australia, The Garmin models that allow the addition of OziExplorer and other reference maps would be a better choice.
There is also other options such as PDA's which give you other capabilities as
well.
It all gets down to what you want of the technology and how much you are willing to pay.
The PDA solution is handy when travelling on foot for instances.

If you want a gps that will supply a CD of the software so you load it onto a PC or Laptop and make
routes, Waypoints, and save tracks and
routes to the computer then I suggest Garmin Quest. www.ja-gps.com.au/garmin_quest_1.html
If you want a GPS that that also plays MP3s, acts as the Bluetooth phone Hands free , and has the capability to act as a redlight/speed cam , school zone / warning , and just about anything else you want know about then Garmin Nuvi 660
www.ja-gps.com.au/garmin_nuvi660.aspx or you might like to browse the other units www.ja-gps.com.au/garmin_in-car.html
Good luck and have fun
Doug
