Aldi had a winch for sale last week - $599. Can anyone enlighten me as to the quality?

After much looking into it by some Land Rover experts it turns out that it is a rebadged Ironman winch. The photo on the front of the box is the same for the Ironman and everything else is the same spec. Apparantley one of the Land Rover guys knows someone at Ironman who also confirmed they supplied the winch.

I bought one and got it fitted at the same time as a new Bullbar last week.

No! Can't be! Don't believe you!

Don't you realise "You Get What You Pay For"!?

That is a mantra this forum holds dear to it's heart... and don't you forget it! The more you pay the better the product is.

You're not suggesting... "They're" wrong... are you...?

Yeah like the people who buy their petrol in Double Bay in Sydney or in Toorak in Melbourne and pay 20c a litre more - it costs more so has to be better petrol :-)

Should I buy a load of these winches and make them 'better' by selling them on for $300 more the I paid? Will that work on this forum? :)

After looking/ fitting the Father in laws the other week I also piced up one on Thursday. All I need now is a winch bar. But hey with 3 years warranty I don't have to rush!!

My understanding is that there are a number of winchews on the market that all come from the same chinese factory. They all look the same and have the same specs. The most well known of these would be the OX and the BRAWN. Also have a look at the ironman, Mile Marker, Thor and T-MAX. Repco also sells a version. The word is that they are an alright recreational winch. A couple of years ago TJM's OX was $1,500. I wonder how much they are now?
