I have trained lots of tourists in Britz campers and have never had any issues with the ones from the
Cairns depot. Cheers Rob

Gidday, the wife and I hired a Britz 4WD camper for a week in April last year. Booked it via
Cairns as it was cheaper but we had a week in
Kakadu departing of course from
Darwin. If it weren't for cyclone Monica we could have done all the roads in their Hi-Top 2WD. Finally got to do some
creek crossings on the track to
Umbrawarra Gorge - see pics of this in
Places section of this website. Our version was the more common version in which the roof can not be pushed up. Met a couple at Yellow Waters who had a model in which the roof was a pop up type and it had a better layout. Had no problems with any mechanical part. Interior lights were a bit dim so buy one of those plug into the lighter compact fluoros and bring it along. Also your own small fold up chairs. Cheers, Warrie

I hired one years ago , nearly lost it in a
salt lake but could not have been happier with the Unit or their service.
Last year i met some people in Alice who had a bushcamper and it looks very nice now , more modcons and you can get everything from britz now for hire except the knowledge on how not to kill yourself in the outback.
Have fun.

Thanx Prado,
It's building up confidence in the car and company. Good to hear that they rent out all sorts of additionals. It probably comes at a price, but it saves a lot of husstle and running about. And, about the knowledge not getting killed out yonder... I can't get killed, even if I would. Got to bring that D*** car back! ;-))
At my work there is a saying, Any ship is just as sea-worthy as it's crew, that also counts for the outback. And I sure as hell realise that!
No worries, but thanks for the advise!
Gertjan.

The one thing which would concern me is that most hire companies only provide one spare wheel. If this is the case when you pick up your vehicle make sure that you have plenty of tyre plugs. A set of plugs and plug
tools are pretty cheap and
well worth having. ( Available from any car parts place - Supacheap/Repco/Coventrys etc, many petrol stations, and at premium at 4x4 shops )
