Best
Camp? Don't know mate, but we have based ourselves in the Caravan
park on the southern side of town.
Turn left at Bicentennial Rd and follow Highway 1 down towards the low level crossing. From memory, the caravan
park is only a few kilometers out and before you reach the low level crossing, which you can't cross if the river level is high:-)

Sounds like Riverview - stayed there a couple of weeks ago - OK and an easy walk to the hot (warm?) springs. Takes dogs in one section.

Rip64, we travelled through
Katherine in 2003 and stayed at the low level van
park, we would stay there again next visit, if this helps.

Concur with above, its part of the "Big4" [or similar]. Used to be called 'Low Level Caravan
Park, but has changed title. Just there three weeks ago & it was chokers....suggest you book ahead. Has a pool, spa, entertainment @ the bistro.
Very good facilities. The entry is narrow as it crosses the national
park. About 5km out of town, accessible from both north @ south.$12/head for powered site [I think ]

Yep - the 'lower level caravan
park' was the go for us in 06 - not very busy at our time there - as is often the case when choosing un-powered for short stays, we had heaps of lovely green lawn to put oursleves on, under shade - top shelf. The river is just across the road with a picnic
park, but there are apparently big lizards in that area.

If its parks your looking for not campgrounds, try "
Knotts Crossing Resort"
Excellent cabins/parks/food (with room service) friendly people, even gave the kids a bag of lollies each when we booked out.
Cheers
