Hi I wonder if someone could tell me if I can still get an external sunvisor for the front windscreen and where. Also have a problem with the ignition points closing causing the motor to miss the screws do up tight like they should I'm thinking of changing to electronic ignition to solve the problem if it is available for a 1991 4.2 ltr carby motor. I'm very interested in other opinions thanks.

Hi Batt's
RE your points drama put a little bit of high temp grease on the cam in distributor and on the trailing edge of the rubbing block of the points and change them every 20000k set the gap with a dwell meter not feeler guages

If the main sleeve bearing on your distributor shaft is worn you may not be able to properly set your points. Grab hold of the rotor and see if you can detect any wobble in the shaft. Most spare ignition parts come from asia these days so I would not worry about country of origin.

Batt's

I had a mate get a sun visor for a Maverick from www.hyway.com.au/ and was impressed with the service.

Cheers Kev

Be aware that an external sun visor will increase your fuel usage. A timing light will show if your distributor shaft is worn , the light will not hold steady on the timing mark , it will dance around it. Electronic ignition can be the way to go, some are susceptile to high temperatures , it needs to be mounted so it can heat through it`s mounting can dissapate ie - a heat sink is needed. Regards G.T.

Do the electronic ignition conversion. You will never look back. I used the ignitor kit and after 60k its still never needed tuning.

The timing mark does dance around I thought the points might have been out a little bit but even after re-checking the points this still happens maybe the shaft is worn. Does this mean the whole dizzy should be replaced 'G.T'. Also 'Brew 34.' I priced elec ignt at Repco $250 they recomend I use a different coil aswell what do you think ,appreciate the previous responces.

I never changed the coil on mine. I think i paid $300 or so for mine installed. What brand was the kit? I remember some kits i priced needed a diff coil and thats why i chose the ignitor.
