HI all,

Have just been given a Fleet card as part of my salary package.( YEEHAAA free Diesel). Am looking at doing a Simpson desert trip next year( takes time to prepare these things). Was just wondering the availability I suppose of fuel locations that will accept Fleet Card. Any info is greatly appreciated....

Thanks in advance

Mick

Mick,
Which company is it with? Ours is with Caltex/Ampol and in the package we received a booklet with the list of locations where the card could be used. Anywhere else we pay by credit card and claim for reimbursement.
Had no problems with any location listed and some were fairly remote.

Mick you don't have many places to check! Ring the Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta, or Mt Dare homestead for the western end of the desert and Birdsville for the eastern end. I'd also contact Fleet card or your employer to check if arrangements can be made for reimbursement of non Fleetcard purchases. After all it is your money! Your company isn't paying it for you - it's from your salary package and the only advantage is that it's before tax. Sorry I'm sure you knew all that, but push for it because it's your money Ralph. You may also need to make some arrangement re filling jerry cans and the resultant discrepancy in your odometer reading. That is if you will need to carry fuel. If you have a TD Prado (180l) you won't but a TD Patrol(135l?) you may need to. Enjoy your planning and trip! Actually it's best to ring ahead anyhow as on one of my trips Mt Dare had no diesel because the tanker hadn't been able to get through, thus we had to fuel up at Oodnadatta and then Birdsville.

Boy oh boy I'm slow!!! Sorry to have you ringing Oodnadatta, Mt Dare and Birdsville - ring Fleetcard - if anyone knows where their card works it'll be them. hehe then again why didn't you think of that? You must be slower than me!! :))
