Well decided to go play today... not driving (although Bestys photos on OL are awesome on Mt Skene!!!) , but Toboggan riding and playin with the kids..

So looked at Lake Mountain, and didnt want to mortgage the house again to get in, then there was hire etc..

Looked at this place, Mt St Gwinear www.stgwinear.info/

$10 to get in, $3 to hire a toboggan on site, so no hassles takin them back anywhere - great value! SOLD.

They have 2 good Toboggan runs, one that Cammo commented was Poo, and a cross country skiing start point there, not a big place, no shop/food etc BYO, which we did anyway to stop the std robbery at ski places.

Well worth it for a quiet day playin with the kids. Not many people there :D HEAVEN!

Also looked at the Thompson dam while there, its only 5klms down the road.. My god, if the rain we have had RAISED the level, we are in deep shizzle, cause the hubble telescope struggled to see water at the bottom...

Been a while since I been there, and its dropped a long way since then. got some photos, but it was rainin so not sure if they are any good yet..

Finally was to Walhalla on the way home.. Also been a few yrs since been there, nothing much has changed, and the burgers were still great and the shop owners still have a good attitude towards customers - RARE .... their city cousin shop owners could learn from it.

I agree with ya Truckster about the country people vs city people behind the counter, but I work for a retailer with several stores and I swear when I started 19 years ago people just were not as rude as they are today. Maybe I'm a little jaded nowadays, but the crap our girls have to put up with, I tell ya.
