I will be in Wa & NT for 2 weeks in August with a 4WD Landcruiser POP-Top in rent, I try some idea for campings, good eating, spot not to lose. In that places it is necessary to use the campings and where the free camping can be used? Where is better to stop itself for the night with a 4WD Landcruiser/Camper?
Itinerary: 11/8 Perth-Kalbarri 12/8 Kalbarri-MonkeyMia 13/8 MonkeyMia-Shark Bay 14/8 Shark Bay-Exmouth 15/8 Exmouth-Port Hedland 16/8 PortHedland-Broome 17/8 Broome-Cape Leveque 19/8 Cape Leveque-Derby 20/8 Derby-GibbRiverRoad 21/8 El Questro 23/8 El Questro-Katherine 25/8 Katherine-Darwin.
I know that is a speed tour but i have another 2 weeks for QLD & NSW.
Thanks
Giorgio

Something tells me this isnt for real?
If you are, enter your itinerary into this trip planner Site Link

and you will see that your plans are rediculous.

You neednt bother going into Kalbarri as you will get there at night and be gone again in the morning. Save 100km

Ditto Monkey Mia you wont see dolphins at midnite- save 400km

Ditto Exmouth- you will be arriving at night and leaving in the early morning and therefore quite likely get friendly with some of the local wildlife-probably get the joy of dispatching a roo with your jackhandle.-save 500km.

But I suspect this is just a troll, and Im providing some info on the offchance that you are not one of those who regularly ...........

Fisho64,
I wouldn't jump to conclusions, from the post it sounds to me that dragonlord is a traveller from overseas.

Whilst the itinery may be unrealistic, he does need help to sort it before he gets here!

yeah i know Batman, thats why I put a bit of info in also.
Sad problem is that there are a few people who use this forum regularly and like to post this sort of stuff for a laugh, but if you mention that it is timewasting crap, you will be told by self-rightous longtermers and members "you dont have to read it". A sad clique that can spoil an otherwise enjoyable forum. Sometimes these people just do it cos theyre bored, sometimes using a new identity to disguise it and think its funny. The online equivalent of graffiti.

Good luck Dragonlord if you are genuine but it seems a pointless journey. As said further down just do half and do it better. But it is a bit late to be asking advice after you have booked and planned it already.

Do yourself a favour, allow a minimum of 6 days on the Gibb River otherwise all you are gonna do is drive, you will miss a lot of great spots, else take the black top come in to el Questro form the other end only about 30 k on the GRR, you can do that in a day then spend more time at El Questro, I agree seems the itinary is a bit unrealistic, give Kalbarri/Shark Bay a miss, drive straight to Broome spend a couple of days at Cape Leveque, 2 weeks I really dont know how you gonna do it, we spent 4 weeks just doing GRR , you need to allow for delays in case of break down etc, and get rest periods, silly to drive tired just to keep up with an unrealistic itinary, thats when accidents do happen.

You'll be waisting your time doing it in 2 weeks as you'll miss most things - You'll be arrogant to think you know better.

I like to do things on express and I would recommend a minimum 3 weeks from departing Perth to arriving Darwin - I have driven Darwin to Perth

I'd suggest you extend your stay or just do one area - Doing one area would be a better trip, save the rest for another time.

As for free camping, while it's not really acceptable, there's nobody around to stop you - a lot of people just camp up off the road.

I would also recommend a minimum 3 weeks from Cairns to Sydney -by the way there is much more to see in the north of QLD than the south

Dragonlord

I suggest you choose one area (eg Kimberley), and spend the entire two weeks there. Saves you a lot of fuel and stress, and you will get to see more if not driving all the time. It's a huge country, and a lot of people take 1 - 2 years just to drive around it.

Thanks mate
...i know that this itinerary is fasted, but I come in once single Australia from Italy and try to turn most possible.I have 45 days and I know that I will pass the greater part of the time to drive (we are in 2) but the thing does not scare to me.In beyond 25 years of travels I have turned in Fly & Drive all USA and Mostly part of Africa...but i don't know Australia and for this I have thought to try help here on the forum.I have asked suggestions where to stop and what to me it is better to choose than to see just why I have little time for stay in spots. I have thought to stop an entire day to Cape Leveque, to El Questro and to Lichtfield, I could change, but however I have Flight in Darwin the 26/8, and this I cannot change it.

Giorgio,

Thankyou for choosing to visit my country. We are vast land and a proud people.

From your route there will be many places for you to camp in the bush near the road. I think you legally have to be about 16 kilometres (10 miles) from a registered caravan park to camp in the bush so there will be many opportunities.

All the areas you have mentioned are visited by many people daily, so there will always be people around to give you updated local information.

You will enjoy the constant changing of the geography as you drive and you will see most of the native wildlife that Australia is famous for.

Good on you for having a go at it. Please try and slow down when oncoming traffic passes you. When you finished your trip maybe you could put a summary here for us to view!!!!!

Goodluck

Alan
