Yeh ...just go into Kmart , flop $4.00 on the counter and ask for a meter of the cheapest red rag on the floor , take it home , cut it into required sized squares, poke 2 holes in it and zip tie it to the antenna, how hard is that, and it's very cheap

I paid $2 for a red tea towel at crazy's (discount store) and used a broom handle.

Worked well. Just do not install until you hit the dunes and remove after the last dune.

Cable tied the lot to the roof rack.

Have a look around next time you come across some roadworks. Or try your local used caryard they generally have heaps of them :).

Seriously though we bought one for 5 bucks from one the 4wd mags that was on display at a 4wd show.

Mr Tee ,

I cable tied a small piece of pipe behind an upright on my bullbar . Into this goes a 7' Ugly Stik rod blank ( butt taped for tight fit ) onto which I bound two small guides to tie the flag on .

I bought an excellent red flag on EBay for $10.

I saw a guy wipe out one on a tree at Durba Springs that had to have been 20 ' long - what a classic .

Cheers ,

Willie

For the pole i used a "wog pole" from a fishing shop, either 5 or 6 metre I think then i found around home a red flag.

I have an old heavy-duty spring base from a UHF antenna (the actual antenna has long-ago been smashed on a tree). I found that the inside diameter of this is just spot-on to take a tent pole. I then found that a bit of old conduit (thin metal) used for cheap curtain fitted inside the tent pole. Cable tied a piece of red rag I found beside the road (you see a lot of them here in SA......people seem to leave them where the side of the road is a bit "rough" (hahahaha)).

I can fit and remove the flag in about 10 seconds and the spring base (unlike the rigid ones attached to bullbars or roof racks with bolts or 100m/h tape, has a bit of give in it, so you won't damage the flag quite so easily on overhanging trees etc.

Hi GeeTee,

Ask a plumber mate if he has one of those flags you get from Reece or Tradelink plumbing supplies etc... Then a length of electrical conduit off the bullbar and away you go!

cheers,

You're all a bunch of cheapskates, na na na na na na!!!

I bought my purpose designed and built solid fiberglass Flagpole several years ago from hmm, Opposite Lock I think. bolts through the Bull Bar mount.

Only cost me $90 or so and I have used it oh, at least half a dozen times.

That equates to $15 a tour:-)))

Still looks "brand new" but!
