Cape York info..Was talking on phone to guys at
Cape York on Sat 28 July '07 and they asked me to let all know of this info address .. He also asked me to check it from this end..Worked fine and lots of good info.. www.capeyorkinfo.org/ Could save a lot of phone calls get you up there sooner. He even assured me there will be a beer (or two) when I arrive..I need all the tourist type info to tack to the end of a video DVD I have just about finished of our group advnture up there, when we had to build the drum/log/wire raft to cross the Wenlock River as it was flooded..I am doing a version for all who were actually part of our groip on the trip, which would
bore others,as it will be over three hours long. Then, when that is burned onto dics and posted to all the group members,I will do a cut down, all action version of 80 minutes which will be for sale..The original four by three hour VHS tapes have been digitally enhanced by good old www.dvdinfinity.com.au in
Sydney..They also saved all my 400plus Nikon™ / Fuji™ slides as huge JPEG's with an enormous quality improvement. They will be available as a seperate item and are being posted onto my site..Now I have to do another Cape trip real soon to see the so called progress up there, including a concrete,pre-srtessed bridge over the Wenlock."Jeez, you ramble on son"!MPG:11!

There are the remains of a raft simlar to your pic still at Morton Station. By the way the pre stressed concrete bridge had 12 mts of
water flowing over it back in 2002 wet season as evidenced by a
sign on the southern approach to the bridge. Cheers Rob

Wow Rob! That's amazing..Which means where we camped on the south bank of the Wenlock for the two nights, building the raft, would have been way under
water (which I thought was high ground)..Hope to see/photograph remains of raft on my next trip up there soon.Thanks.

You blokes are yanking my chain, who put the bridge on the Wenlock and when?
We drove through it late in the dry about the same era you built the raft
young Rocky!
Looks like I need to organise another
Cape York adventure before the toll road goes in!

Geoff - I was up there in 2001 and 2004. The bridge was there, resplendent in all its graffiti in 2001.

We crossed the Wenlock 6 times and only used the bridge twice.....
If it was'nt for an armco it might have been zero...,,,, but it could have ended up like a
Jardine River crossing lol...

Geoff, my son worked on the construction of that bridge while doing his apprenticeship with Road Tek and has some great photos of it's progress from start to finish, so you better believe it mate there is definately a bridge over the Wenlock, shucks....

Hey Team,
Never doubted your take on the bridge!
I wonder if I can find some photo's of us crossing the Wenlock? Or better still, the
Jardine.
So many years ago, so much fun.
Next question, Is there still a track through the paper bark swamp into the Pennefather River? That was some awesome fishing!

Hey Poppy! That's a magic 'Landing Craft' xcept it won't hold a little 4x4 but should fit a Quad or two in it which would equate to a lot of fun..Re the building of the bridge, your son's pix of that job would be great..I imagine they would have had a pile driver in the middle of the river to do the foundations,or a big borer..Maybe he may post a pix here one day?
