anyone planning to go over, the road is closed at both sides.

From OL
------------
I contacted Mansfield Shire who maintains the Licola/Jamieson and they confirmed the rd is closed to Mt Skene. Closure is between Wrens Flat and McMillan’s Track. When you visit the Mansfield website their rd closures does not include this.

Can anyone confirm there is signage at the Jamieson end. There is defiantly a sign at McMillan’s end.

It's closed by the Shire of Mansfeild. It's a major Rd.
The road is very wet and muddy and you can see how easily it would get cut up from people driving it whilst it is this wet.

Also Mc Evoy's Rd is closed at the moment as their doing extensive road works.
Also pretty much every track in the Walhalla/Aberfeldy area is closed since the floods due to extensive damage. Donnelly Ck. Tk. is totally gone in places and most river crossings are impassable.

Add to that the majority of 4x4 tracks in the Jamieson/Woodspoint area are closed that was burnt by the fire & it doesn't make the place worth visiting till November.

Bugger - I have organised a half day test drive of the Sorento diesel through Berwick Kia and was planning on a drive through Merringtons, Donnelly Creek Rd, White Star Track, McEvoys, Willaimson's Spur and back via Walhalla.

Obviously that's not going to be possible. It's still a few weeks or more till the vehicle is available, but the track conditions won't improve enough by then.

Taken from Outerlimits - From GUJOHNO (owns a rock hard GQ he does)

I have been in contact with rangers regarding access after the fires and floods. The news is not good.
The floods have caused massive damage to river crossing and tracks.

Signs as you enter the forest areas.

Donnelly Creek Tk. 600mm wide in areas. This creek was flowing up to 6 meters deep!

Donnelly Creek Tk

Donelly Creek Tk @ Toombon. The mullock heap is half gone and the track up to the battery site is gone.

Toombon hotel. Major works are needed to fix.

The Junction crossing (Donnelly Creek and Aberfeldy River). Very deep hole heading across to Williams Spur Tk. Steep muddy exit. Trees blocking off exit to Donnelly's Creek Tk. The large tree with the swing rope is gone.

Coopers Creek during the flood.

Coopers Creek now.

There will not be any more works carried out until September once the weather has calmed down. how much gets done will depend on funding.
They still haven't managed to get to Foultons Ck Tk., Pheasant, Dream Ck. and Deep Ck tracks but expect very similar. Deep washed away crossings and subsided tracks.
Also Mc Evoys Tk is closed whilst major road works are beeing carried out. Although some permits are being issued.

John.

Thanks for that info - it's worse than I imagined.

It'd take a bloody good vehicle of any kind to get through that.

Cheers

i was up there 2 weeks ago and after eventually getting to the top, due to very deep snow we continued to go over to jameison and without ever seeing any sign that said road closed on either side of mt Skene, the only one we say was the same one as above. If the road was closed then there was a lot of people on the sunday that were driving on a closed road

cheers
