Yes. Ignore the responses you receive which say you'll need some sort of huge 4WD to tow it - in Europe smaller cars tow bigger vans all the time.

when I was a kid, my parents falcon had NO trouble towing the old 22 foot
Franklin dual axle caravan, as Mike said it will be more than fine.
Cheers Stefan

Unfortunately Stefan when your parents towed a 22'
Franklin the death rate on roads was about 3 times what it is these days - however if that is not a concern then by all means go for it as Mike says it will be fine.

We tow a similar size van...Avan 17ft poptop ...with a 96 ef Falcon wagon , no trouble at all , and contrary to what some will tell you that it is a no no we use o/d nearly all the time.....recently had the gear box completly serviced and the mechanic told me that he could find no "obvious " signs of wear...we travel at around 80 - 95kmh and have had numerous trips of 1200k or more at a time and one from Vic to
Darwin and back.... the car runs and tows really
well....cheers

Just a little more info...the wagon has overload springs fitted....is dual fuel....has a Hayman Reece hitch and is coming up to 200000ks on the clock...(the reason for the gear box service), the 200000ks that is..cheers

I reckon the falcon is a good choice of
sedan for towing a van, plenty of grunt and if my memory serves me correctly has a greater towing capacity than its competitors. Does it have an oiler cooler for you transmission? If not, you would be
well advised to have one fitted. Hayman Reese market what I beleive to be an excellent weight distribution kit at about $600.00 and in my opinion it is an essential piece of equipment, regardless of size of tow vehicle. It enables you to take the guess work out of distributing the ball weight & results in your braking & steering capabilities being correctly re established.
Happy travelling

Is the van you are getting 17' internal or external measurement? This makes a difference to the final weight.
If you think a bit of weight up front is not necessary to control a van then thke a look at Site Link

Unfortunately you will get a heap of contradictory replies on here - like the one that says - ignore the advice - they tow bigger vans inEurope all the time. Unfortunatley that comment is absolute crap - the European vans, roads and vehicles are nothing like ours so the comparison is irrelevant.
No-one on here can say it is safe or not safe - they do not know what ball weight, what van, how it is loaded, what WDH, what accessories fitted to the Falcon (air shocks, trans cooling , heavy duty ball hitch etc)
Post some more details and you will get some realistic replies not the uneductaed off the cuff replies above

I'm sure we would be seeing far fewer 4x4's towing vans around the country if either Ford or Holden had introduced their cars with a modern fuel efficient turbo diesel.
I know that probably sooner rather than later I'll be changing to a car rather than my GQ for towing and if either of the big 2 produce one in a 5 or 6 speed auto turbo diesel then that will certainly change the way people tow their vans around the country.
As the fuel crisis continues to bite ever deeper the size of vans will surely shrink and more modern construction methods will make them lighter and easier to tow. We are seeing this at the moment with lightweight vans like Geist being imported into the country.
Both Ford and Holden are at least talking about turbo diesels and with the car makers sharing their components more and more it will come to pass that we end up with them.
I think in the not too distant future people will think that they may not be able to see all of Australia like you can in a 4x4 but you can still see a hell of a lot with a family
sedan.
Regards Andrew.
