Hi all............
Would anyone out there have any first hand information about tracks that may run on or close to the
SA/WA border?
Basically, I'd like to go from Border Village to Surveyor General's Corner (by motorcycle) following the border as closely as possible.
I've spoken to Bob Carpenter who ran the Australian Safari for years and even with his extensive knowledge, he didn't think it would be possible.
And yes, I'm
well aware of the permission I will need from the aboriginal owners, but I thought I'd try and nail down a specific route first.
Many thanks for any advice and knowledge out ther. :-)
Cheers
Tony

Nothing the border AFAIK... the
Maralinga-Tjarutja guys (the SA side of the same mob as the Tjutjanjara folks) might also help if you get to know them. They would certainly need to give their permission if you were on the SA side which is Mamungari National
Park these days.
Cheers
Andrew.

An update for any of you interested. There is a track running from
Eucla and roughly following the border at least as far as
Serpentine Lakes (probably further) on the WA side of the border. I've confirmed this on Google Earth.
I've also been lucky enough to meet a bloke who runs the health service on APY land and he's good enough to help me get the permits etc.
The trip will be in May next year and has turned into a big charity event for Channel 9 Telethon with a major motorcycle manufacturer supplying the bikes and Channel 9 doing all the promo etc.
Should be good fun and a great opportunity to raise some funds for needy charities.
I'll let you all know when the website is up for updates etc.
Many thanks once again for the information already supplied, I may need to call on you again as we progress. :-)
Cheers
Tony
