IGGIE
G-day All,
I have just got my first 4x4 1997 Toyota Troopy 75 series Diesel HZJ75 and it as no manual with it. Can anyone please let me know what spares to carry to keep out of trouble. Any advice would be of help. I intend to get out to do some bird photography.

Thanks
Iggie

Nice photos on your website, I do same but not to the extent you go to.
Are you in Mornington ?
If you go to your local Toyota dealer then all they will ask for is your rego. # and that will bring up the year and model of vehicle, so long as it is original rego #.
Buy genuine belts and hoses and you know they will fit.

Iggie,
It would be very beneficial to join a club and do
driver training for starters. Can you recover yourself from a bog (mud or sand) Do you know why you deflate tyres, even for gravel roads ?
Depends on how remote you'll be when out and about as to what spares you'll need, but for starters :
Top and bottom radiator hoses
fuel filter(s)
wheel bearings front and back
drive belts(3)
jumper leads (heavy duty)
spare wheel studs with nuts
long handled shovel
snatch strap
compressor (good 1)
spare tubes
puncture repair kit (bead breaker, rubber mallet, etc.)
fire extinguisher
fuel
tank repair kit
insect or spinifex screen(s)
2nd spare wheel or tyre
and the list gets bigger for really remote stuff.
You own a Troopy, so I know you can get it all in somewhere :>))
Ave a good 1

Hi there Iggie,
Nice work on your website...
It really depends on where you are headed... you can go birdwatching in pretty innocuous
places or pretty remote ones... for me, the
Kimberley at the start of the wet season this year was wonderful for birdwatching.
I also like Hattah-Kulkyne or the Birds Australia sanctuaries...
Anyways, the spares you need will depend on your mechanical abilities, and how remote you intend travelling. For me, I travel with a set of belts (even had trouble getting a fan belt in
Melbourne a month or so ago!), a set of radiator hoses, spare front and rear shockers, oil, coolant, grease, tyre repair kit (I don't have to worry about split rims - you probably do), compressor and 9 tyres of which six are on the road at any one time (I tend to have trailer (aka photography platform) in tow.
I hope this helps a little... if you are really new to this you might like to travel with friends in the first instance - there are a few avid photographers on here, and the odd one like me, that makes a business of it. Also folks like Wayne from NSW who is currently taking
Tag along tours for Great Divide Tours.
Cheers
Andrew.

As I said this CD will self start when inserted , it does not go direct to the index , because it is not a paid version of self start a little panel will appear first , either click OK or tap the enter button then it goes to the index,

Hey mate,
You wouldn't happen to have a link to find the manuals online would you? I have just acquired a 1996 75-series Troopy and need a set of manuals as
well.
