What sort of national
park are you after? you can
camp near Belair National
Park in the caravan
park.

You haven't been very clear on the type of 'accomodation' you want. There are no National Parks anywhere near
Adelaide that you can 'bush/
free camp' in.
You could try Belair Caravan
Park (adjoins Belair National
Park) as stated in previous reply.
Kingston Park - on the metropolitan coast south of
Adelaide (in the suburbs)
Adelaide Shores (used to be
West beach) on the coast, west of the city adjoins the airport.
Mt Crawford
camping area for a 'bush experience' about 30-40 km from the city.
Brownhill
Creek adjoins Hills Face Zone (semi
park like)
Deep Creek Conservation Park at the bottom of
Fleurieu Peninsula about 120 km south of the city for a true bush experience, wildlife included, coastal environment plenty of
views over to
Kangaroo Island
Good Luck with it.

ta for the replys, your half-right, bush-
camping is the preferance. For the privacy I dont mind paying the extra fuel, fees, permits, supplys etc...
looks like it is Mt Crawford .. it is a pity the SA parks site is so unusable & misleading as a quick guide. It has you believing you can
camp in the conservation areas...

Beware that this time of year Mt Crawford is freezing cold at night. Nights around 3-5 are common, with moisture too if it's been wet. Not very comfortable if unprepared.

Chookarloo (Spelling?) at
Kuitpo forest SE of the city is another possibility.
Bush camping with a long drop
toilet.
If you go to Mt Crawford we think the nicest spot is Rocky Paddock.
Deep Creek mentioned above is very nice and only an hour out of
Adelaide.
Cheers
Peter
