G'Day all,
For those who use the mac couplers, do you put in fridge or freezer and for how long?
My instructions say fridge 20mins, but have read other instructions online which said freezer overnight.
As not been filling long, thought would ask the mob if there is any advantage of going freezer?
Rgds

Freezer for 10/20min , always make sure that bottle is fully empty before a refill ,first couple of times we weighed the empty before and after fill , found that if in freezer for the 10/20 min prior to refill we got the full 800grm of gas transfered.

Well that worked a treat, thanks heaps, after 20mins in fridge, weighed 600 after fill, 20 in freezer, weighed 850 after, which is a smidge of a new one.
Whats the go with the paper gasket inside, do they wear out, are they replaceable?

Doubt whether the gasket would wear out , only way to stuff it would be if it got poked around with a sharp object ,

Freezer for about 10 to 15 mins, should be around the 850g mark when full

Problem is, its not always "convenient" to have a freezer on hand when out and about.

Thats a fair call, but I'm only doing a couple to take with me now n then when its cold.
Wouldnt be too hard to find someone with a freezer for 15mins surely?
An establishment or maybe fellow camper with a van or a Wengel?
I have 4 cylinders, which is HEAPS for what I do, and I will toss them at first
sign of corrossion or if fail leak test of course.
I think its a great device,
well stoked.
Its perfectly safe, its only not sold here to protect the stupid who would do it with a cigarette in gob in kitchen etc, sure you know the sort!

Well I have certainly got a Mac Coupler, a couple of Coleman cylinders and an Engel fridge, but I can't envisage turning the fridge into a freezer just to fit more gas in.
The only use for the cylinders is the Catalytic heater and I intend constructing an alternative stand so I can use an adaptor hose from a bigger gas bottle to run the heater.
It's bad enough getting up in the "wee" hours for a "wee" wee without the hassle of changing over a gas bottle.
Then again, I really only need to warm up the camper tent section before retiring for the night. Once I'm ensconced under the doona, it takes a major emergency (or a full bladder) to budge me.
