Hi Ann
We are heading up from
Adelaide on Tuesday.
Two cruisers, first time to Races, and then intend first Simpson crossing from
Birdsville.
We will be looking out for EO members, as I have not met any yet.
We were really sorry we were unable to get to the Warraweena gathering, but hope to make up for this in future.
cheers, Dalb

Hi Dalb,
Guess you're on the way. Lucky you. Only 4 sleeps to go for us.
There are three cruisers in our group. Two from Tassie.
We're first timers too, and looking forward to the experience. Arriving
Birdsville Wed. Leaving Sunday, for
Innamincka Cameron Corner,
Lyndhurst,
Broken Hill.
Have a great time

We've got a group heading out there
.
We're in much the same situation as yourself. The camper is packed, the cruiser is almost packed and everything else is organized.
We're leaving
Brisbane on Saturday morning and are going to
Cameron Corner, up the
Bore track to
Innamincka, west through
Walkers Crossing, down the
Birdsville Track to the
Warburton Track, up the
rig road to the French Line,
Poeppel Corner then the QAA Line to
Birdsville. We plan on getting to
Birdsville on the Wednesday afternoon which gives us 5 days to get there so we should be fine.
4 days to go and counting.........
Regards
Anthony.

I'm already here and have a fantastic
camp spot, close to everything. Couple of camps here ready for the party as
well. Cold southerly wind blowing, sunny days. 80 cars in a Kidney Rally here last night and left down the
Inside Track this a.m. - going
Darwin to Dubbo.

Hi Ann, no am not in the caravan
park but still have
water views . You should be able to get into the
Park on Wednesday, especially if you are travelling on your own. You won't get power -
well, I'd be surprised as they are usually gone by this Friday. Good news, no other Rallies are due this Races. I'll be wearing black & white on the Friday with black & white hat but totally over the top dressed up for Saturday and Fashions in the Field. Not doing the VIP tent either day so I can move around - it'll be great in there tho.
This Saturday night we've got Angry Anderson & Rose Tattoo in town playing at the Hall - fantastic - we are all going (all us old rockers - the
young 'uns probably wouldn't understand). He he - glad my kids won't be here until after that, wouldn't want to shame them! (Not much anyway).

Hi Anthony,
Great photo. Nice looking set-up. Didn't need the palms in the background though. Only moved from
Townsville two years ago, to
Mount Gambier.....................enough said.
We are planning on being in
Birdsville on Wednesday too. Maybe we'll get a
campsite. Maybe not too... We're doing
Birdsville Cordillo Downs and strezleki. Leaving
Birdsville Sunday to
Innamincka..Coongie Lakes..
Cameron Corner on Thursday, finishing up
Lyndhurst,
Leigh Creek,
Broken Hill.
First time for us. The cruiser has led a sheltered life since we bought it new in '97.Could come home with a scratch or two.......
Must get a photo and post.
Hope to see you around. Camper looks very similar to ours.
Cruiser is 40th Ann. Silver

Good to hear. Your trip sounds like it will be a good one!
Last year there was the Variety Bash Rally in town and I also think it was some sort of Anniversary (150 years or something - I could be wrong with how many years), but we were able to get a
camp in the Caravan
Park on the Wednesday afternoon. I'm hoping the same still stands for this year.
I'm looking forward to being close to the pub for the nightly drinking sessions! ha ha.
Game on.
If you guys see us out there - feel free to come up and say G'day.
We've got tickets for the VIP tent on the Saturday and will have matching shirts printed up to wear so we should stand out. I'll see if I can find a pic of the logo which will be on our shirts. Come and have some rums with us!
Cheers
Anthony.
PS. Post a pic of your rig so I can keep an eye out for you.

I'm off to the
Birdsville races next Wednesday.
No Jackaroo trip this time though, going with a group of 9 in three light aircraft.
One of those "must do in my lifetime" things, and the opportunity arose this year so I grabbed it.
Next year I'll be on 4
wheels again, though.....planning on
Melbourne to
Cape York, across to
Darwin, Alice for the
Todd River event,
Birdsville Races,
Lightning Ridge, back to
Melbourne.
Woo hoo, can't wait....

At this stage, it's the Cape for us next year too.
See how it all goes this time.

We will be there by Tuesday. I plan an easy trip leaving
Brisbane on Sunday morning early.
The Landcruiser and Camper are standing in the drive ready to go.
I hope to see you there, come over for a chat if you see me.
Regards
Derek.
