I have just purchased a 100 "Kakadu" TD auto, which about 70K kms ago had an OME
suspension upgrade (springs, shocks, torsion bars).Springs seem to be OK, but I reckon shockers are over the
hill....and anyway I have just put new BFG A/Ts all around. I was going to replace the OME shockers with Tough Dog Ralphs, but heard of problems with them in the front end.
Can anyone recommend any particular type/brand of shocks ?
Fitted with an ARB steel bar, Warn XD9000 low mount, dual battery system. Likely to be fitted with long range tank and a set of drawers. Unlikley ever to tow. Aside from the daily home-office city grind, I use it for at least 1 long trip each year, as
well as a few "long weekend" trips, although with retirement around the corner next year, I am aiming to reverse that !!. Mostly remote area touring, but does include a lot "off track".

Gotcha - yep, I keep hearing Billies, so that's probably the way I will go.

Thx for that - the existing shockers have done approx 75K kms, incl some hard travel across to the Kimberleys and rthen back around through souther WA and SA, towing a camper trailer. So, I reckon they'vew done pretty
well.....but they are now struggling.
I think I/ve settled on Bilsteins, but the OME ones could be a good second choice.

I've got the ATS 4X4 setup and can recommend it. Huge improvement over the standard setup. It does cost more though.

Yeah....it looks a good combo - have checked both ATS' web site (bit limited) and some press on the set-up (which is I think the one marketed by Macquarie 4x4 in
Sydney). I see that the system uses Billies, and that is probably the way i will go

I have recently traded up to an LC100 TD auto too and have had the ARB set up put in as
well. I have also been asking around the traps and when finance allows will be installing Bilsteins in the front at least. I have not heard of any problems with tough dogs, but from what I can gather, Bilstein make an el-primo shock for the front of IFS LC100's, albeit at an el-primo price.

That's great - I am hearing the same thing. Am always happy to pay the price if the product quality matches.

Just be careful you get a shock the same length, as the shock on the front of a 100 is the bump stop....and i have heard of ppl having problems with them....i also heard one guy took his set of Billies off his 100 because they were too heavy duty....and he didnt like the ride....
The ralph would be the best controlling shock for weight, as it is so big....my advice is to talk to as many ppl as possible, look up ATS 4x4 in
Melbourne and give Darren your questions...he is the man to speak to.
