Interesting point that you raise.

I bought one of these thing-a-me jigs about two 4WD shows ago just to shut SWMBO up.

Never used it and never test fired it.

Maybe it will be a surprise package.

We had one and it was amongst a bad batch, so they informed me. Snowy's in Adelaide changed it over and the new one has never missed a beat.

I have said in a previous post there was a bad batch, you could still take it back and claim warrenty, I did after 2 or 3 years.

If the one you have is the same as mine, Blue metal box, I found it worked reliably if I removed the front cover ( 3 screws ) and left if off. At low water temps it kept going out

I never knew the Coleman Hot Water on Demand units came in a blue metal box......they have always been green plastic AFAIK. :-)

Apart from the initial batch problems (i wouldn't have thought that it be that problem after so long), i have found that mine goes out if the battery is getting low.......it will pump, though not light.

Charge the battery.....maybe needs a replacement one.......and see how that goes.

I bought a Coleman about 3 years ago and it played up from day one the same as yours is. I had it repaired by Coleman (in Sydney) but it only lasted a few uses and stopped working altogether.
I contacted Coleman and they told me to take it to the nearest Coleman stockist (I live in Bathurst) and it was replaced with no questions asked.
As said above there was a bad batch sold in Australia and I notice the new ones now come with a five year warranty.
By the way when working properly they are a great machine.
Cheers

Hi Shane,

I had the same problem with mine, it turned out to be a small amount of crap in the filter at the end of hose. There is a small piece of mesh that was slightly blocked, it still pumped water and light, then go out. I cleaned it out, then no Problems since.

Hope this helps,

David

Remove the screw holding the black control knob , gently pull the knob out and remove the spring , replace knob and screw , effectively disables the auto flame cut out , have had ours like that for the last 3+ years no problem.

Hi
Our unit is fantastic we now use it from a 9kg bottle and the only time we have ever had a problem like you are describing is when the battery was low, keep it charged and you will have years of great use.

Glad to see them coming to the party......you had me confused when you said it was out of warranty, as they have a 10 year warranty and they haven't been around ten years.
