Hi - just wandering if any one has comments on using one of the generic mounts which stick to the window to hold your pocke pc.
I have only used the Clicon ones but have a new car and you can't transfer it so looking at a more generic option.
I am a bit concerned what thet will do when the road gets a bit rough.
Thanks for any help,
Oldman

I have a Mitac Mio P350 & it comes with a suction mount, it has been quite OK both in the High Country & the Outback.

I have a RAM mount for my Ipaq with suction mount and have no problems. Most car dashboards vibrate more than a windscreen so no problems. The Ram mounts are strong and can be purchase through GPS OZ or Johnny Appleseed I think

I had a generic one for a year. Seemed very good, plastic but
well designed, then just starting out on a Simpson trip in April this year it just wouldn't stick any more (bugger). I still like the shock absorbing in the arm of the one coming from the windscreen - still haven't replaced old one - probably go the same way again but have a backup in future. JD

Had no probs with the one that came with my navman pocket pc. Don't know if they are a better quality than the generic ones though.
Cheers Stefan

Oldman,
I am using RAM Mounts. I actually have two, one for the GPS and one for the Pocket PC. I have hed these for about a year and have subjected them to some pretty severe territory and nether have ever fallen off.

Ram Mounts are certainly very good.
For my PDA, I am using a Haicom 4in1 holder which not only has a GPS unit on top, (direct connection, or bluetooth) but amplifies the sound for voice guidance around the city. Plugs into the ciggy socket to provide power and charges the PDA as
well. There is an adapter to connect to a variety of PDA's.
Attaches to the windscreen via a robust suction cup.

Many thanks to all who replied.
I will go look around for one. Hopefully make it to Penrith show next week.
I like the ClinOn ones but I have already had to buy two - cause I upgraded my pocket PC and did not want to go a 3rd. Mind you I am not likely to change either _Permanent_Painted_Coatings.aspx or car for a long time now. But for a complete new Clicon it was going to cost around $180.
Thanks again,
Richard

I've got both a generic eBay Hong Kong mount and a Free Cruiser powered and amplified mount. No troubles with either. The Free Cruiser did fall off once but that was my fault, I didn't prepare the window properly.
