The Bridgestone 694 Dueler is a good tyre for the price.
The Bridgestone 693 Dueler is "maybe" even better if you can still get them.
The 693 is made in Japan and Bridgestone were planning to stop importing them, in favour of the 694, which is now made in Australia. The carcasses are identical for both.
I probably would have bought the 694 compound as they were cheaper than the 693's, but at the time, the 694's were "brand new" in the locally made compound and time was needed for "on the road" trials.
That was a few months ago and the facts above were relevant for the 645/70/R16 size tyre.
I'm happy with the 693's and will probably buy the 694's again next time.
I previously had a set of 694's and got 70,000 K's out of them but I liked the look of the 693 pattern a little better so I managed to buy them, albeit will some difficulty, as Bridgestone had stopped supplying them in my size, to the general public.
The remainling stock were being "reserved" for emergency vehicle use.
P.S. I thought the Challenger used the 16 inch tyre like the Rodeo and Jackaroo?

693 is made in Australia, that's one of reasons why they will be going on my 4x4 soon

Doug,
That's not what Bridgestone told me.
693 made in Japan.
694 originally made in Japan, now made in Australia for local use.
Bridgestone ceasing importation of the 693.
At the time, reasonable stocks of 265/70/R16 were still obtainable, but the remaining stock of 693's in the 245/70/R16 (not the 645 I originally stated) as used on Jackaroo & Rodeo were being held back for use by "emergency vehicle fleets" only.
I was led to believe Bridgestone will not import further stock of any sized 693 compound.
This was repeated to me by two different Bridgestone Retail outlets when I was trying to obtain tyres and they (the managers) were told by the Bridgestone Warehouse personnel.

Sand Man
I called into Bridgestone at
Barmera on the way over here, they had 4 on
wheels ready for a customer, I had a look at them and was impressed that they had MADE IN AUSTRALIA on the sidewall , after all Bridgestone is an Australian Company from about 1939

Mate,
You made me go out and look at the 693's I have on the Jack.
Well, bugger me. They say "made in Thailand" so that buggers up everything now.
I suspect different sizes are made in different locations and Bridgestone don't really know their own product.

Bridgestone are offering Cash Back with the Dueler A/T D694.
The standard size for my Triton is the same as your Challenger and due to the limited range in 265/70 R15s I went to 31 x 10.5 R15s and have BFG ATs and have done about 35000kms and reckon that they are not even 50% worn.
Cheers Kev

My Mits. Challenger came with Yokohama Geolanders, think they were 32's.
Got 75000km's and they wore very evenly. Just replaced them with Yok. Geo 51s which ápparently are a better tyre and cheaper.
A little firmer ride but not unpleasant.

Hi Seaslug,
I have had a great run out of 4 sets of 693's on the GU (around 80,000km each set) and will in the coming months need my next set of tyres and rest assured the Bridgestones are top of the list.
Cheers, Trevor.
