“Little Blowhard” and Blowhard or Big Blowhard cant remember which, were hills on a dirt road down in the snow area back in 1964. I’m not sure if they are in Vic or NSW.
They needed 1st gear and you could see where people tried to change back to 1st with a no sychro 1st and got stuck.
One part of the road followed a ridge and was narrow and no safety fences. On mud with snow it was not a place to make a mistake.
The question is does anyone know where these were located.
Cheers

Peter,
There is a place called Blowhard near
Ballarat in Vic. Just north of Miners Rest on the
Ballarat -
Maryborough Rd.
There is also another place near
Ballarat called Little Hard Hills, which is south of
Ballarat near Enfield.
Could be either...
Steve.

Hi Peter
Just north of
melbourne near popular 4wd area called Toolangi is an area with several tracks that can get pretty muddy , called Blowhard trk, Blowhard range track etc.
Some fun driving in the area today - who knows what it would have been like in 1964.

Mt Blowhard is on the Great Alpine road between the
Dargo turn off & Little Baldy on the approach to Mt Hotham. Back in 64 it was a single lane track in
places with a sheer drop into the Ovens Valley. In Winter the road was often closed at the Wangarratta Ski Club. Sections of the original track can still be seen near
Blowhard Hut.

I think Craig has cracked it.
We drove from
Sydney and I think we went towards Mt Hoffman. It was defiantly a single lane and the sheer drop on a snow/mud road was one to keep you honest when driving a FC Holden running winter tread tyres. 2WD in those days
Thanks everyone for all the input.
