G'day Murray
There is a "spell check" tab at the bottom of each new message you are typing.
It's the second row from the bottom, third from the left.

Gday George
I know i am old and nearly blind, but i did press that button and nothing . The spell check came up , but wont open and help me ...
Nice to see you and the child bride coming to the Pyranees for the weekend.
My darling is coming at the moment. I can't see anything that will stop her, like grand kids or new grand kids . There is one on the horizan, but too far away at the moment to be an excuse.
Murray
PS. the bottom left hand corner has an" error on this page sign"

Murray,
A good backup I use is MS Word. It's set to use the English (AUS) dictionary whereas most others are Yankee based and therefore worthless.
Just bring up a blank word document, type or paste a word into it, then use Tools - Spelling and Grammar to check it.
You can also use Tools - Language - Thesaurus to obtain the meaning of a word you're not sure of, or obtain an alternative word to use. Word is also habdy to construct a lengthy Post, run the spell check, then cut & paste it into the
Forum Post or Reply.
Of course, I don't always apply this practice and sometimes a spelling mistake is incurred by yours truly.
I also have ieSpell loaded into Internet Explorer which seems to work very quickly. Unfortunately though, this uses the English (American) dictionary which is kind of an oxymoron statement:-)

Now, you can see what happens when you don't run the spell check, can't you. I did it deliberately, can you find the error:-))

Oh Nick!
You shouldn't have embarrassed yourself like that mate.
Even when you "learnt" (past participle or tense of learn) to spell at school, you can still make spelling mistakes. "Learned" is an abjective.
Or other simple errors. (i.e. sould)
(By the way, the US dictionary doesn't recognize the word "abjective")
Sorry mate, I'm not an English Teacher either, but earned a distinction in English as a Kid. And I still stuff up regularly.
Bugger Hey!

Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Look at who is talking Bill. abjective should be spelt "adjective"
Let's all just make some errors now and again:-)

I wasn't skoold in the good old daze, I was schooled in the day where when a fellow student asked "how do you spell refrigerator?" the teacher replied "just put fridge"
Fortunately my spelling is pretty reasonable and these days mistakes are mostly attributed to typographical errors.
In my experience of on and off tertiary education there has been only 1 out of a possible 20 lecturer/trainers have actually taken note of spelling mistakes.
The EO spell chequer said I did ok this time.
hahaha

Another reason Firefox runs rings around IE. It has a built in spell checker.

I will second that. You can download extra dictionaries like English UK and English AUS.

Hows it going Muz,
You want to keep on your toes or you may get a mention in the monthly spelling and bad grammar post by the literary Nazis .
Just keep all replies to threads yes/no and you cant go wrong.
Unless you write yeah/nah then you may be in trouble.
Glenn.

Murray,
Simple way to fix the speller system is to tell me about it. I prefer email or Feedback however I was alerted to this post and have fixed the issue with the spell checker system.
You should be good to go.

Dearest David and team
I must apologise for not advising you about "spell check". I thought that it was just me. In future I will advise through the proper channels.
George .,,,thanks for the help
All others ,,,,thanks
And as for Wes,,we gave him a short name so he would have no problems with the spelling.
