Stan,
I had the earlier model Piranah DBE150E for some years, between a Yuasha Overlander 700CCA Cranker and a pair of Delkor 80AH Deep Cycle batteries.

I only replaced it because I wanted to have the simple ability of recharging the entire battery system (Cranker & Aux batteries) by the Solar panels all at the same time.

I now use a Rotronics system - only because it does what I want simply and with-out hassles.

You will have NO problems with the Piranha Electronic system.

I too have a Piranha DBE150S Electronic Isolator. Now about 7 years old.

The primary battery is an Exide Extreme for starting, etc.
The auxiliary battery is an Absorbed Power AGM GT12-75C (75 Ah)
A third battery connected to the Auxiliary terminals via its own charge controller, but still "overseen" by the Piranha, is a 75+A/h Thumper portable battery system.

All work and play extremely well and happy with each other.

The DBE180S is a later model of the one I have and includes a solar panel plug and a battery monitor plug. I believe the DBE180S includes a battery monitor.

One of the better "smart" controllers on the market IMO.

Had the DB180S fitted to my Navara running two 75 A/H D/C batteries (one in the vehicle and the second in the camper trailer). Performed very well under 12 months of trying conditions. No problems at all.

Cheers. Mick

I have exactly that setup in the Prado. Was installed by TJM at prospect in Adelaide and I have been very happy with it. Set and forget. Was about $800 for full setup including unit, battery and tray fully installed with 6mm wire all the way to rear cargo area and twin hella sockets installed.

Bit over 3 years old now and am looking to replace the battery soon with the same one again. Trojan 27TMH 115AH that you mentioned. If you are in SA then the best price I have managed to find is at Battery Discounters at Glynde. $198 including GST for supply only. These seem to be the best capacity battery I can find that fit a standard 12 inch tray. Battery is still holding charge really well but the main battery has recently been replaced so will replace aux soon to keep them about same age.

Cheers
Muddy
