Big Bang

One of the repairs that I have to do to the Troopie is to weld a split seam in the long range tank.

I have just removed the tank and will now pressurise it with low pressure air to find the split.

Next will be to start the lawn mower and fill the tank will it's exhaust fumes.

Then MIG weld a steel plate over the split.

If you are in the outer western Sydney area (Penrith) and should happen to hear a big bang and I don't come back to the forum, I might have got it wrong.

Yeah mate flat out like a lizard drinking LOL. Na reckons after xmas she will give me the go ahead for the locker. To be honest the price was no difference to when I rang them up prior to the show so no real show special so might as well wait so I can maybe get front as well but at the moment was just pushing for the back one. Were not going away till after xmas (or off road anyway) so can wait till then. Away next month just for a week but going in mates commodore no off road. In regards to barrier have to get a caddyshack one as Milford don't make one for the Grande. Regards Steve M

Wayne I have fixed a couple tanks before diesel and petrol and I always fill them with water almost up to the hole or crack to decrease air space, also were possible fill air space with inert gas like Argon.
Not telling you how to do it just that I have done it and am still here.LOL

Cheers Scoof.

According to rumours flying around, it might have been a TRD Aurion engine letting go.....

Well it did not go bang.

I have the tank under pressure and will see if it drops any pressure over the next 10 min.

It has already passed the soapy water test so I think it should be alright.
