G'day all,
Just a follow up to previous threads re LC100's cracking plastic strip near rear side windows.
Mine has cracked as well.
Today I went to my local Toyota dealer (Stewarts at Kirrawee in Sydney) whom I purchased from brand new and have subsequently paid through the nose to have it regularly serviced.
No problem in getting the window fixed under warranty.
Beauty I thought!
BUT..the only way they can fix is to replace.
At the time of purchase I had the dealer also fit tinting to all of the windows.
Although the replacement window is covered under warranty they will not cover tint on it as Toyota do not provide a factory tint (except the Sahara)!
Needless to say I was rather peeved at this.
Not getting anywhere with the dealer I contacted Toyota Australia.
They too said fix/replace the window no problems..BUT not the tinting.
When put forward the case that if the Toyota window wasn't faulty in the first place I wouldn't have to replace the tint.
Their reply in essence was tuff titties.
If anyone has had a better outcome I would appreciate hearing from you.

Regards
CraigB

I feel a bit better now after my whinge.

Craig,

Sorry I can't help with the warranty/tint - but I did a rear windscreen on my 100s last weekend (smashed) - Stilh whipper snippers do have serious grunt - anyway, insurance covered the glass replacement and tint - pretty good I thought - and no excess or effect on no claim bonus!

Tim,
I noticed you have the ats setup with Cooper St's.
Are you happy with this combination?

Craig,

Can't fault the ATS suspension - IMHO it is brilliant for what I do - High Country and towing Camper.

I haven't had a fault with the Coopers - minor chipping but running pressures suitable to terrain seem to alleviate chipping to a degree - but tyre wear is a major issue for me. My 100 Series is always loaded and after 42000km I only had about 4-6mm of tread left. Swapped them over with the ones on the camper and spares to get a new set - will replace all 8 when needed next time - with a different brand.

Craig, just cough up the $50.00 to tint the window and be satisfied that they have rectified the FAULT.
