Worn WARN WINCH wants fixing.

I have a 1996ish WARN Winch on my Troopy.

We've just come back from the Anne Beadell, Connie Sue, Heather, Old Gunbarrel, Finke River and Simpson, so it experienced a few corrugations. [Apart from losing a driving light due to its mounting tab breaking, the Troopy (which was unreasonably heavily laden) had not a single problem. There's not another vehicle - apart from a NEW Troopy - I'd rather have!]

The plate that mounts the relays box to the body of the winch broke, got fixed (by replacement) by an auto electn in Alice, then broke again.

Does WARN have an operation in Oz? My local ARB just wants to send me to a local auto electn, but I think I need to deal with Warn themselves. Can I? and if so, where? Hopefully in Sydney?

Thanks for any replies.

Sounds like quite a trip you had, some fantastic locations you mentioned,
As for the Troopy I know where your coming from, mine has 711,000 + on it now and the only thing replaced about the engine is the fuel pump ,
Do you remember just before the new 70 series was released everyone was knocking it and they hadn't even seen it or driven it , Mate if I had the money or was younger I would have no hesitation in getting a new Troopy with the V8/TD, They even whined about the dash being the same, as for the dash i like it, it's functional. it is easy to mount things on and in , on the sides too . ATECO are the mob but I have a feeling they deal exclusively with ARB.

You'll have to nickname your winch Shane, so then you'll have a worn Shane Warn

Thanks guys.

Leroy - I've been in contact with ATECO in Sydney and they'll look at it for me then put me onto a competent dealer to do what is needed.

Doug - yes, it was a great trip. It would have been much less interesting if I had not used the ExplorOz site and forum to research every bit of it. We met people along those roads who hadn't a clue about what there was to see - sure made the hours spent reading the Forum worthwhile. Troopy was superb, even over the many hundreds of km of VERY severe corrugations along all the roads mentioned above.

Graham.
